Leaving a good relationship after 6 years

I broke up 2 months ago with my bf. We had been together for 6 years and a half (since I was 17).

He was the perfect bf on paper, loving and caring. But I felt like I was shrinking in the relationship and like I never had that huge committement. We lived beautiful moments together, but still I couldn’t choose him for my future and I'm questioning why I stayed so long. I feel guilty for breaking his heart and because I had a crush for another guy while I was with him, and I'm still thinking about this guy after months have passed.

Now I'm lost and I'm trying to go on. Do you have any advice? Did anyone have the same experience as me?

😔

I'm sorry you are hurting and so is he, but you can't stay in a relationship if it's not right, you did the best thing for you both in the end.

You both deserve to be happy and to not feel like you are just coasting.

Give yourself some time to heal before jumping into something else 💙

You are not alone and your line " perfect on paper" is a reason many stay too long. you are not alone in that either.  I know it is hard if he was committed and you did not want to hurt him.  imagine how much he would hurt if you stayed even longer.

Relationships are not job interviews and how they fit on paper.  You knew you could not see yourself committing long term and did the right thing.  I hope you find a person you can commit to and feel it deeply not stay because it works on paper.
