MY sister doesn't have phone manners
I have three problems with Luna (my sister) calling around the time the parents and I are going to have supper. The first one is when she doesn't know we're going to have supper, my sister never asks "Have I caught you at a bad time?" like other people would do.
The 2nd problem I have with her is that my parents, not wanting to hurt her feelings never tell her "You kind of caught us at a bad time we're just about to sit down and have supper" -so because they don't do that supper could be delayed up to an hour because of whatever Luna's current problems are. And that's really annoying for me, when I'm basically am finishing pouring drinks when she called. The last time it happened (before today) I had to put my chocolate milk and Dad's water into the fridge so it didn't get warm on the table.
The third, and finally problem is that when Luna calls, all supper is of one of the parents (Dad normally but Mom today) going On, and on about Luna's problems that she talked about on the phone. There's plenty of other stuff to talk about then Luna's problems like the news and such.
@Disneywoman That does sound frustrating!
I know that I will do things while talking to family or close friends on the phone and vice versa. I think many people are more relaxed with etiquette when it comes to close relationships. For me/my parents sometimes this means talking between bites of food, crunching and all!
What do you think of using the speaker phone setting so dinner isn't delayed and all of you can converse?
@AffyAvo Mom can't dishout the food, unless I pour the drinks and both times (this time and last time) I was at the final stage of pouring the drinks (mixing my choclate scause) when my sister calls and complain whatever her current problem is. So that we can't sit down to supper because the supper's not on the table yet because mom hasn't you know dished it out yet. Last time (the other year) that we're having some hot, when she called.
