Marriage crisis
Hello, im new to this, but recently my wife approached me and said she wants a separation, It caught me by surprise and did not know how to react, im didnt think I would get emotional but when that happened it hit me like a ten ton brick. The next day I talked to my parents and that’s when I really broke down. Right now im confused and depressed, which I’ve never experienced, and don’t know what to do. When I asked if we can fix this she replied “no I don’t think there is any fixing it”.
@d35ruc70 Marriage is hard. It's probably one of the hardest things there is, in my opinion. I'm sorry you're hurting so much right now. It's understandable that you would feel this way. The woman you ❤️ and vowed to be with always has expressed she doesn't want to be together anymore. That's heartbreaking. I'm sorry things have gotten to that point in your marriage where she doesn't believe it's fixable. What do you think? It requires 2 willing people to work on the marriage. It can't work if one person's heart is not in it. The both of you deserve to be happy... but if there's any part of this that can be fixed and repaired, I would hope it's worth it to try all you both can do. I know she's the one choosing to separate. Ultimately, you can't make someone want to be with you even if you're married to that person. Please just work on yourself and caring for yourself during this challenging time. If you believe in God, pray. Pray for your wife and your marriage. ♡ I truly wish you all the best and hope things work out for you. Take care. ☆

It sounds like you had no idea what caused this or that she felt this way. Perhaps start there. If you do know ask yourself how that would change in future. when on the edge of breakup or divorce We all make promises maybe to tread carefully to not do items spouse dislikes etc. but in time we relax and settle in.
Many people do not feel "it" can be fixed because the other person seemed oblivious to whatever "it" is. If you are not sure do not assume clarify my partner assumed and made it worse by doing thing they thought, I was unhappy with missing the mark of what I was really unhappy about
If she feels there is no fixing, I still think counseling or deep communication to understand what happened can be helpful to both of you. I feel it is a good sign she asked for separation not just jumping to divorce.
