My fiance has been lying to me

I already tend to have anger issues and I am very mad because he has NEVER lied to me about anything other than vaping (which to me is a small and trivial thing to lie about). I don’t understand why because I have never passed judgment on him for it. This is like the 5th or 6th time. Im losing track. I just found another one that he just lied to my face about for the second time. I told him about my trust issues from growing up and that I was suspicious yesterday about it and he gaslit me telling me he wasn’t and he didn’t have one and I was not hearing him vaping. And here we are. I found one. And I am losing my mind. We just got engaged. I love him so much. But lying to me about this over and over And over again my trust has run out. I don’t know what to do.

@caroline4839 It's hard to say for sure what should be done (as to what I can give advice for) since I don't have the full story OR context, but let me make this clear: a partner SHOULD be fully honest with their loved one, especially in this case! I'm not on board with that kind of behavior either, quite frankly.

As I would say, I'd strive to ensure you two have better communication, preferable withholding judgement and at least trying to understand why this is happening, but I personally don't blame you for having your trust run out. I'm pretty sure it's well understood that vaping in general can be very harmful, especially depending on where it's sourced from (smoking in general if we're being real). It's tough to say, but sometimes, loving someone can also mean having to love them enough to get them to tell you the truth, and in that very same regard, the anger issues you also brought up has to be brought to light too, albeit even if it's a conversation that's hard to have.

My motto with relationships is: "Remember, you're not fighting your partner (You V.S. Them), instead, it's You and your partner V.S. the problems" Keeping that in mind as you find ways to learn how to manage anger (which could make your fiance be more afraid (I could be wrong too, though.)

Again, these are some conversations you need to have with your fiance, even if it's uncomfortable. Couples can't grow without it, and if you can't bring these things up without feeling safe to someone who's supposed to keep you safe, would you still think loving someone is all you truly need? Safety, Trust, Understanding, Active Listening, and Communication! Much love and support, and I sincerely hope you're doing well! 🤗

@caroline4839

in order for a partner to lie about some small things if they know it will cause issues .

Perhaps you did react in a way he did not like or want to deal with even if you said it was not a big deal.   when the subject is brought up is it a conversation or more of going over all the reasons to quit?

Vaping is addictive and addicts will lie about they did not drink or smoke etc... whatever their addictive item is.   perhaps he needs to find a solution to fight the cravings and be able to quit without judgement.
