My husband beat me

I live in Pakistan and am 19 years old with a 27 year old husband. We live in a joint family where I had to over work myself, had to live in stress with my privacy continuously inavded. I was already not happy,but stayed because I always thought atleast my husband is nice. But now, he pinned me to the ground and kept slapping me and saying demeaning things until I completely froze into place. I am currently staying with my parents and asking every intelligent person I see, and asking myself day and night: should I stay or leave?

@courteousPond9146 if you have the chance to do so, leave. You are not safe there, you are not respected there, there is no foundation for a healthy marriage and if he did it once he's likely to do it again. Even if he won't hit you any soon, you will still have the fear and doubt that it might happen anytime and you will still know that he doesn't respect you.
So if there is a way for you to safely leave, I hope you will do it. Make sure to gather support from people close to you, or even from associations that support women who go through this sort of things, and don't let your husband know about your plans until you're gone: if he knows you're considering leaving, you might be in danger.
I'm being very drastic, I know, but this is a pattern that is all too frequent.

No one should stay in a place that's not safe if they have the choice to go elsewhere. If you're asking yourself if you should stay or leave, then you already know the answer.

I am from an Eastern Europe country, where there was a sad "tradition" of some children and some wives (and some husbands, but rarely) being beaten.

But I believe there in no heavenly or earthly law that would entitle your husband to beat you.
