My wife wants to separate to explore her sexuality
This hurts me to write this thread. My wife of 7 years (13 together) has told me tonight that she has been feeling something is missing in our marriage and that she would like to explore her sexuality with an open marriage. She opened with telling me that she thinks I'm a great father and we work well as we team when parenting but something is missing in our sexual life. We haven't had as much sex as we liked to but she was always tired from work or I was tired form work and chores.
I told her I cannot handle an open marriage as I was not raised to think that way so we are on the verge of separating. Just needing some support or possibly people to talk to.
@tricktran32 hi there, tricktran32. thank you for sharing this issue with the community! :)
i understand how difficult it must be for you to be dealing with your partner of 13 years that you also have (a) kid(s) with telling you that she wants to further explore her sexuality through having an open marriage with you. it is understandable and even valid that you have different views on open marriage and it is not something you want to do with her. it makes sense that it hurts you and i am glad you've reached out about it. <3
@tricktran32 I understand what you are going through, and navigating the feelings of betrayal, disappointment, helplessness and sadness can be overwhelming. You invested so much time, effort and money into this relationship with a person who was the center of your world, only for it all to come crashing down.
Thank you for being brave enough to share your problems and not hold back. Your feelings about the matter are valid and I wish you all the best in getting through this storm of life.

It has been some time and i guess you may have faced issues by now.
when a partner asks for an open situation often they already have some ideas in mind ...in a marriage ..sex is important connection with your partner and no excuses about being tired and busy makes it better.... if people are not having their needs met at a certain point they may seek elsewhere. even if they have not by now they are prime for someone who shows attention flirting and etc to cross a line.
why is it so many come to this point and then are like "what happened" ..... pay attention to your partner and do not say it can wait maybe next week or the weekend or whenever down the road cause this is how it ends them asking for permission to try something new with SOMEONE else.
I understand what you are going through. in a marriage ..sex is important connection with your partner. Perhaps you should talk to her about having her sexuality being met in your marriage and taking time for seX. Then after a trial period then you can agree to her desire for an open marriage.
