Seeking Guidance on Navigating Family Pressure and Finding Independence

I'm currently so much struggling with overwhelming pressure and control from my family, particularly my parents.

They consistently try to dictate my choices, emotions, and the direction of my life, making it hard to assert my own independence, like bro....

Despite my efforts to set boundaries and make decisions that align with my own needs, I feel trapped in their guilt-trips and emotional manipulation. I’m looking for advice or support from anyone who has been through similar situations, especially when it comes to handling toxic family dynamics and reclaiming emotional autonomy. Any suggestions on how to maintain boundaries and move forward independently would be greatly appreciated :)

@goodPlum8495

I can remember the frustrations when I lived with my parents! So I understand how difficult it can be. So I'm trying to think what I wish someone had told me then.

It will be OK.

You are not bad, wrong, useless, silly, a failure or what have you. But intelligent, kind, thoughtful, special, important and amazing.

You know best what is right for you. Have faith in you.

If you don't value a comment, you don't have to mentally accept it. If you don't accept it, it remains the property of the person who offered it, and thus nothing to do with you, so get on with your life as if you never heard it.

Learn active listening at your earliest opportunity. It will change your life.

Anger is a sign that someone cares, they just can't communicate it.

It's not your problem.

It will be OK. It will. Because you are amazing.

It was a long path, but these are all things I wish I had known then. There's lots more. I wish you success in finding the secrets of your own path. I want to tell you to be patient, but I know I would have been *** if someone had said that to me, so I won't 😉

It's OK to be ***. It's not fair.
