A couple days ago my partner asked me how I feel about poly relationships. First thing I said is what is a poly relationship. I didn't really understand but I just said okay. And then he says he is dating someone else. It's been a few days and I dont like that the relationship is poly. Im planning on leaving him because he technically cheated on me but Im just curious what would happen if I just said I dont like that the relationship is poly?

@guff05

Well it's a dubious situation you find yourself in.. This isn't a conventional relationship your in now and you have to decide what your next step is.. I wish you the best on your next step in life..🌲

@guff05 It's totally okay to not want that! You can certainly tell him how you feel and see. In fact, communication is crucial to a healthy relationship. 🧡 May I ask why you would not want to tell him? No pressure. Don't answer if you aren't comfortable with it.

@guff05 polyamorous relationships are a form of ethical non-monogany, which means that all people involved must be aware of the relationship status and happy to participate in it. What he did was not polyamory: he cheated on you and brought up the idea of polyamory only afterwards, to justify his behavior. If you did not consent to be part of a poly relationship, then all he did was cheating on you. You don't have to stay in a relationship with someone who disrespected you like that.
