infidelity

We’ve been in a long-term relationship and have children together. Recently, we’ve gone through a very difficult period after I broke trust in the relationship. Since then, we’ve been trying to navigate rebuilding our connection and seeing what a healthy future looks like for us.

While I am fully responsible for my past actions and the hurt they caused, my partner is also working through her own feelings and process. Right now, we live together, co-parent, and are in close proximity daily, which brings up many emotional challenges for both of us.

My partner has clearly communicated that she needs space and time to focus on herself — reconnecting with who she is outside of the relationship and being able to make her own choices without feeling watched or questioned. Our communication can be good at times, and we do still have small, positive moments together, but we also experience tension and triggers around boundaries and trust.

I’m learning that my own fears and anxieties often cause me to look for reassurance or control in unhealthy ways, especially when I see her having friendships or connections outside of me. I recognize this is my issue to work on — my need to control or worry doesn’t help the situation and can make her feel more crowded or less safe.

Right now, my focus is on healing myself, becoming more self-reliant emotionally, and learning to give her the room to do the same. Our future as a couple is uncertain, but we’re trying to move toward personal growth so that if there is a possibility of coming back together later, it will be from a healthier and more stable place.

@raspberryHouse574

I am a big fan of personal growth but find if you do not have some growth together you will grow apart.

It became  clear to me when i was taking time for me and had good personal growth..... Now i see NO future with my partner. i did not see change or growth in them and small items just let me believe they were when i started my growth journey......they also have no idea of who i am now..... I think he has made some effort but i am now in a place I no longer care about his efforts.  IF it does not address the past infidelity it is avoidance IMO.

have you dealt with whatever was your reason? ... I do believe if a person decides to cross a line they had something they decided to risk it all for.   Your relationship probably had issues before you strayed. Moving forward without dealing with that  is like leaving a bit of mold on something.  given space and time mold will grow and spread.
