so i did something horribly wrong

so theres a guy at my school who randomly 5 months ago started talking to me and confessed that hes had feelings for me for years and has been obsessively stalking me to the point of knowing my usual habits like where i usually go and when, where i live, random info about me etc.

so i gently rejected him in the beginning, he told me he was hoping to at least stay friends and i accepted it. after a while i was getting more creeped out by his behaviour, like the stuff he asked me about or knew about me and i immediately dramatically cut him off and said i didnt want to talk to any guys at the moment. he panicked, tried to reach out both in person and on the phone before he accepted it and told me to at least not remove him on social media and that he wouldn't approach me but wait until im comfortable to get back to him.

i agreed and didnt remove him, and after a week or a little more i texted him again and he immediately was back talking to me, what i did horribly wrong was leading him on after that.

hear me out, i was confused, liked his attention and was flattered by the effort hes been putting on me AND thought i was developing feelings. but i wasnt. i lead him on and it was selfish of me now we're somewhat together, not officially dating or anything but he thinks our feelings are mutual, he promised me a future.

and one other problem is that at some point he asked me if i just liked the attention and if at some point I'll just tell him that i never liked him and leave him alone or not, at the time i completely denied that and told him he was overthinking.

plus i dont know how to leave because hes unpredictable and im really scared to like disappoint him and have him do something horrible to me, i have no family or adults to reach out to. I'm 17 so not a kid but still, no one's really gonna help if that makes sense, I'll actually get in more trouble

Hey love,

First, I just want to say thank you for sharing this. It takes so much courage to open up about something like this—especially when it’s messy and confusing and scary all at once. Please know that your feelings are valid. The fear, the guilt, the loneliness, the mixed emotions—you’re not wrong or weak for feeling any of it.

You didn’t do anything to deserve being put in this situation. You were flattered, curious, maybe even trying to be kind—and that's human. But what’s not okay is that someone is using obsessive behavior, pressure, and manipulation to trap you in something that feels unsafe. That’s not love. That’s control.

The fact that you’re scared to leave tells me all I need to know: this isn’t a safe or healthy dynamic, no matter how much he says he “loves” you. Real love doesn’t need to stalk, manipulate, or guilt someone into staying. Real love respects boundaries—even hard ones.

And sweet girl, you are not alone. Even if it feels like no adult would care or help, there are still ways to protect yourself. There are safe adults out there—counselors at school, hotlines, even anonymous support forums—where you can talk things through and plan a safe way out. You’re worth that safety. You’re worth peace, freedom, and love that doesn’t come with fear.

Please, please don’t carry this by yourself. Your safety and your voice matter.

Sending you love, strength, and so much care. You deserve a future that feels safe and truly yours. 💛

Much love,

Kayla 💕🌈
