He kicked me in the stomach after I hit him by accident

I was playing with the cat and by accident I hit him in the head trying not to get scratched. I did not even get to say sorry and I could see on his face what was about to come. He started shouting and kicked me in the stomach with his foot. I was in shock, I didn't mean to hit him, it was an accident😣 I get that he was angry but is this normal? I've been with him for 2years and a half and there was just one other episode in the past when he grabbed my arm as we were having an argument. Shall I be concerned? Is this abuse? 😔

I'm not sure. I would just be careful and observant from this point on. He kicked you in the stomach in a fast reaction. That's harsh. Did you talk that over properly? What was his reaction? That's important you know. Take care of yourself.

(Disclaimer: I am in no way at all a professional, but I am sharing my reaction/opinion. Please take what I say with a dose of good critical judgement.) I am sorry, he valued the cat over your vital organs?! The cat would have been fine, and probably even understanding, but the /kick/ to the /stomach/ was very much deliberate. My advice: do NOT wait to find out. He needs to learn to not inflict injury as a way of expressing anger, but as far as I have seen, when people are confronted about stuff like that they get even more aggressive, as if trying to prove that they should be allowed to be as physically aggressive as they want. I know that it would be hard to leave him so abruptly after 2 and a half years, so for now, just aim to make sure you have a real, reliable support system. A few family members, friends, coworkers; pick a few reliable and trustworthy people, let those people know about your life, and let those people be there to help you if things get rougher If you think you can safely talk to him about this, that would be another good important move. Don't over-apologize, though, because that won't help you at all. Thank you for reaching out, and please stay safe!

(Disclaimer: this one is probably not a friendly opinion to read) An additional point to consider: if the cat had hurt you, would he have responded as quickly and violently toward the cat? If so, that's not good; something needs to be done to help him not lash out violently and hurt others like that. (No, I don't want him to hurt the cat.) If not, then he has some priorities to get straight. If the cat is so much more important to him than you, then perhaps he is not that great of a boyfriend. (I definitely don't want him to hurt you even more.)

I realized that you hadn't said that the "he" in question is a boyfriend, and I can't edit or delete & repost the above post. I don't mean any offense by it; please replace that word with whatever is most applicable in your situation. Thank you!

I'm guessing this is a joke since the OP was making me laugh kinda hard and everyone else seems in on it.

Ok yeah that's actually understandable. I just assumed there was a miscommunication going on.

I should probably excuse myself but if a person kicked you in the stomach something is *very* wrong here. I'm very ashamed of my response. Yes, it is abuse. You should be very concerned.

Yes it’s abuse. And you said, there was another instance from the past where he’s grabbed your arm. He’ll probably do it again.
