I need a perspective on this

My bf didn’t seem very excited to make plans with me or to see me, therefore, I asked him about it because I was concerned (because I’m always excited to see him and make plans with him)

He said that he’s not excited to see me, but rather glad to have the time to meet up with me and catch up with me. I’m a bit confused as to what he meant by this since I don’t know what the difference is between the two, if that makes sense.

I would like to know what some others think of this, and what he meant by this.
