Why am I offended to sarcasm?

Every time my husband is sarcastic I feel attacked and like I need to defend myself. He doesn’t agree and thinks I should not be because it’s a joke. How do you accept it without letting it hurt?

@passionateBlueberry3326

I can see both sides as for some sarcasm is said jokingly but with a twinge of truth and I feel thought behind it that they can pass off as a joke.......

Happens in my world too most of the time i can shrug off but a few topics I know it is more of a barb then a joke...... found a good way with my situation is to reverse it and say sarcastic things back took all the fun out of it for him......

I really think it depends on the tone and topic of the conversation. Some sarcasm can be funny but when said at the right time.

@passionateBlueberry3326- sadly sarcasm then discounting your feelings can be a form of emotional abuse. Sorry to hear that you feel this way, your feelings are valid. Are these remarks made on a consistent basis? And how long has he made you feel this way? You deserve emotional support and recognition for your self worth - not "jokes". Often these are patterns from how families related to each other. I hope you can sit down calmly and share with him that his jokes are hurting your feelings - and need to stop. It is not your place to accept this type of communication and behavior. Best of luck to you.
