I would rationalize my thought processes in a situation like that. I view it like Schringer's cat until you know which it is, which helps me remember not to have too much grief until the results come in. You may have it and you might not, but there is no benefit to assuming the worst when it's inconclusive.

Don't worry. Things will turn out okay in the end. Just be careful and safe.

Okay so I had found out that I will not know for sure for 6 months. Until then it is so hard to deal with. I am watching my child sleep right now and I kiss her forehead so much. My son holds my hands and my stomach is in knots. I want to die right now

Hey peach....so sorry you're going thru this. I can't imagine how scary this must be. It's not the end of the world though. I have a friend whose had hiv for almost 15 years now. Thanks to so many new treatments and medications, she still has a happy healthy life. In the meantime, be safe. And if if you feel down think of you're kids that are counting on you to be their mom. Hugs and prayers.

15 years?? Clearly I don't know much of HIV. Hiv has never enteredmy mind until now. Why is this so hard to deal with?

Fear of the unknown, maybe. Everyone deals with things differently. If I was in your shoes, knowing what I know, I can't say I'd be reacting any differently. When something is happening to you and not someone else, it's really hard to see it from a different light. With some of the issues I've dealt with, I know I almost get "tunnel vision". I always tend to focus on the negative things instead of looking at the big picture. It's hard to do that sometimes. You've come to the right place to getd support that you need right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I'm late to the thread, but hopefully I can offer some help. So sorry you have to deal with this and I hope you text results came back negative, but let me try and ease your mind a bit.

HIV has a lot of stigma surrounding it and while it is a terrible disease, it's manageable and easy to live with as long as you follow your doctor's guidelines and take medicine. A relative of mine was diagnosed in the early 90's and was supposed to die a few years later according to her first doctor... But it's 2015 and she's living well. She's even an active person in the lives of her three grandchild. She was taking 13 pills a day and now she's down to one. She goes around to high schools and colleges, educating students about safe-sex practices. A few weeks ago, she came back from Africa after a small AIDS conference in a village. She taught the people how to use condoms, dental dams, and what to do if they're worried they've contracted something. She's living it up!

Also, you can't give someone the disease by kissing them, sharing food, etc. The amount of the virus in saliva is so miniscule that the body will have no problem getting rid of it. Just worry about blood and other bodily fluids.

Sometimes Life Has Its Ways. But That Doesn't Mean Life Can Go Wrong. This is Why Life Is Here. Things To Happen. But You Don't Get Complete Bad Luck. You Drop Plates, Lose Someone, Break Your Phone, Lose Your Keys, Yes. That All Happens. But not in the same day. Sometimes you need to break through your fear. Good luck through your journey through life and it's moments.heartSophie.
