I've been dating my girlfriend for a year now and I want to have sex or be sexual with her. For the past 2 or so months we've talked about this all. She wants wait till she's 18, which won't be for another 5 months. She might be asexual, because she doesn't have any sexual feelings or desires, but she may just be developing late. I love her very much, and I don't want to break up over this. It's just really difficult and I guess I'm looking for advice on this whole situation.

@Lovingthesugar117 Hello. I think that it is important to make sure that both of you are comfortable with what you're doing. Make sure you respect her wishes.

I respect her wishes, it just feels unfair. Like what about what I want and my feelings? I feel like whenever a situation like this happens the boy is told to wait and respect the girls wishes and give her time, but that doesn't do anything for the boy. I'm already doing that. It's all just a little frustrating.

@Lovingthesugar117 I understand that this is frustrating. You may need to have a discussion with her. Perhaps you could reevaluate the relationship. You may want to consider whether or not it is worth it to continue the relationship. Good luck!

I'm sorry, it must be very difficult for you. You're doing the right things by respecting her and not pushing her boundaries, but at the same time, I know how hard it can be to be denied something that is so important to you. When there are these sorts of differences, it's important to talk about it as openly as possible. For example, she might have some insecurities that lead her to wait, and expressing them could help her feeling more comfortable. However, remember that your needs are important too. If it takes longer than you can bear, or if she will eventually determine that she's really asexual and she doesn't want to do it, it's ok to go your separate ways. It's not selfish at all: at the end of the day, if both people aren't happy in a relationship, it can only gets worse in time and lead you both to be unhappy. Give her time and help her explore her thoughts and worries, but at the same time, remember that you have your rights too and it's up to you to determine when you can no longer keep waiting.

If you say you love her then you'd wait and respect her wishes. Be patient it doesn't last long... there's more to relationships then sex. I hope u make the right choice. Best of luck.
