An Avoidant’s Journey
I’m 25 now and I’ve never been in a relationship. My whole life I’ve had unrequited crushes and every time I’ve been close to being in a relationship I’ve sabotaged it. I’ve always been subconsciously attracted to unavailable men. It’s always been easier for me to be alone. I always thought that I liked being alone but that was something I told myself to not put myself out there. After a long personal growth journey, I think this is another step I need to take. I’m excited to put myself out there but I’m also nervous. I downloaded a dating app but I’m still apprehensive. I’m trying to keep my expectations realistic and being compassionate with myself.

It takes a lot to acknowledge your past patterns. It's okay to feel nervous and apprehensive about putting yourself out there. Small steps are big steps!💜

It’s brave and admirable that you’re ready to date for the first time after a long personal growth journey. you might feel nervous and apprehensive about it. But it can also be fun and rewarding to meet new people and explore your feelings and desires. I think it’s great that you’re realistic and compassionate with yourself. That’s a healthy and positive attitude. Goodluck! You got this!

I understand how you feel. Being alone can be comforting and enjoyable for many people, but I get that it can make it a lot more difficult to pursue relationships.
It's great that you are gaining more self-awareness by introspecting, and are also putting yourself out there despite the nervousness. I'm glad you are being compassionate with yourself through this. Keep trying, you got this.
@Shyness98 Hello Shyness, hope your day is going well and I am glad to hear you are taking steps to better yourself, as well as your dating life, one small step at a time!
You may be nervous at first, but with those small deliberate steps it can make a world of difference.
Just remember to take things slow, breathe, and lastly enjoy yourself and have fun!
(As well as staying safe).
