Choosing a love might mean losing a friend?

My best friend moved away for a job about two years ago but I have been very close with her family for years. So I will still go over to her place and to their family functions, despite her not being there. Her older cousin and I have gotten along so well and are always laughing and joking around with each other. Him and I could literally talk for HOURS. I have never met anyone like him. He is 10 years older than I am so it was never flirty. Until I turned 21. He asked me out for drinks one night and ever since then we have been inseparable. We get dinner, watch movies and cuddle at his place but NOTHING beyond that. Hes not a very serious person and we never talked about what we want from each other. But this has been happening for two years (I was in college for the beginning so I didnt see him that often) and nothing more has progressed. I have seen other guys on and off but they dont compare. I know I love him but Im not sure if I should tell him or not. My best friend (his cousin) would not approve of us dating. And I dont want to lose her as a friend either or make things weird. Also, being 10 years younger Im at a completely different stage of life. He has his own house and job and Im at home with my parents and I dont even know if I wanna stay in the area. Should I move on ? Or bite the bullet and see if he feels the same?
