@amicablePark9441

hello, im sorry to hear that you are going through a difficult time. I, myself, have been struggling with a break up for a year now. What i say here may not be soild fool proof advice but maybe you can take something from it. My ex was my best friend and my whole world but in the last year of our relationship, i noticed we started arguing a lot and did not talk things out. He decided to end it without reason and i was left hanging.

The one thing i regret till today is that we never talked it out and there was not even a proper goodbye. We ended on harsh terms. You mentioned that you and your partner did try to voice it iut but reached no conclusion. I understand... so from my personal experience, heres my opinion;

1. Make it a point to come to a conclusion/ resolution when talking things out. This will need a lot of compromise on both ends. Hear each other out and always try to avoid raising voices. Each party has a right to make their point/ stand and should be listened to. This is a tough skill and as cliché as it sounds: communication is key to a happy relationship.

2. Ask yourself if there is anything else standing in the way of your relationship apart from the verbal disagreements? Is there something that goes deeper behind that (i.e. dissatisfaction of a particular issue)? For example, in my case, i was unhappy that he hardly told me things at one point and when i brought it up to him, he said i was clingy.

3. Ask yourself, did you or your partner change (in personality/ behaviour) over the course of the past year that led up to this issue? Could you think back on how you had a good relationship prior to being official? Sometimes identifying the root can help solve things.

Now, technicalities aside, i might be a hopeless romantic here but my personal opinion is that if you truly love someone, it does not matter what comes. If things can be resolved, then try your utmost best to do so. Only if all fails, then you can decide whether its best to let go. My point here is: dont leave the relationship without trying all you can to save it. We all have different boundaries and for me, there are things such as cheating/ abuse which i will not hesitate leaving the relationship for. But if it is about miscommunication/ disagreement, try to work it out :)

this is a huge decision, but in the end choose what is best for you! Best wishes and good luck!!

Great thoughts.

I recently decided to leave my husband because it felt like he wasn't fully vested in trying to make it work. He wanted me to accept things as they were and be happy, whereas I wanted a stronger emotional connection between us. When things didn't go the way he liked, he'd withdraw himself physically and emotionally and not communicate with me. Even after I told him this is hurtful for me, he continued to do it. I still love him, but I think I can best love him by freeing him to do what makes him happy and allowing myself to find what makes me happy (instead of being unhappy because he can't provide me what I need).

@peacefulforest75 yes, I still struggle with this. But you are correct once you're not sastified anymore than you owe it to yourself to move away from these things and find happiness elsewhere. Which I fully believe you will. Best of luck!
