wanting a break up
So ive been with this guy for 3 years now, we have dealt with a lot of stuff from the beginning and never had a good foundation to start on. He lives with me and my family, and they love him. I love him but im not IN love with him... we have tried for months to fix it but i cant force myself to be happy, and even with him knowing how unhappy i am he refuses to accept it and doesnt want to end it. I feel horrible and like im over reacting but i cant change the way i feel and think its time to move on. Any advice?
@KoalaBearP You feel how you feel. If it's not working for you that's your right and there's no reason for you to stay with him if you're unhappy, even if your family adores him.
I assume you're not married, but if it really comes down to it, I would think there is a way to evict him, even if not formally (unless he's signed papers and what not). That's brutal but your post made me a bit uncomfortable: it sounds like he won't actually leave (the relationship or the physical proxmity to you).
You may want to sit down with him (and maybe your family, depending on the dynamics) and tell him he has a timeline to leave because it's not working out and there's no reason why he should stay unless he wants to pay room and board as a formal tenant and what not. And even then that's not necessarily ideal since you two have had a relationship.
I'm sorry you're going through that. But remember: you have every right to how you feel and he does not have the right to stay on your/your family's property (even if you still loved him and wanted this relationship to continue he doesn't necessarily have that right, either). Good luck!
@KoalaBearP
Hey there, hopefully you are doing well. There's a few things I would like to point out;
So ive been with this guy for 3 years now, we have dealt with a lot of stuff from the beginning and never had a good foundation to start on. He lives with me and my family, and they love him. I love him but im not IN love with him...(This tells me you see him as a friend, you lost all feelings of love, attraction and desire for him) we have tried for months to fix it but i cant force myself to be happy, (You feel like this is something you have to fix, in reality he is probably not showing secure behavior which caused to fall out of love) and even with him knowing how unhappy i am he refuses to accept it and doesnt want to end it. (This indicate he is only focus on what he wants without thinking how you feel and ignoring reality. You are also wanting him to end it, even though its something you should do) I feel horrible and like im over reacting (You are not over-reacting, I can tell he is self centered, so this is going to make you feel unhappy and hurt . Don't minimize or belittle how you feel because its completly understandable how you feel) but i cant change the way i feel and think its time to move on. Any advice? (Right now things don't seem good between the two of you, he would have to make massive changes on order for you to feel attracted to him again. You have to put yourself first here because you shouldn't be going through such unhappiness with someone you don't love)
