Commitment problems or just not compatible?

So i decided to date my friend. Shes cute, and makes me extremely happy, but when we talk about the future we just dont have the same ideas. For me i want someone who is responsible, and smart. But she just wants to be supported, and is very irresponsible. I know people change with time, but the irresponsibility is kinda turning me away. We talk a out our plans for the future, and she barely wants or cares to graduate highschool or go to college. Idk if its commitment issues i have, or actual preferences. She has a lot of problems as well, and i want to help her but they r things that she has to deal with. Im supportive but she doesnt want to, and I understand since i wouldnt want to face my inner demons too. But i really want out of the relationship while staying friends, i mean she just confessed and in the heat of the moment i said yes.Our ultimate goal for each other is to support each other and bring each other joy, but our views towards school and other things are extremely different. I want to stay by my own values but at the same time she is extremely supportive and a wonderful partner. We r both in highschool, but ive recently been thinking that i should wait till college or a little after to start dating. Maybe focus on school more since it is my top priority despite how bad that sounds.

@2sleepy2function

It does seem to be compatibility issues and I can empathize with your state of mind where we like someone and want more, and want more, but, there are major differences. It is not easy and I can empathize with that feeling.

From your words I can get the sense that you are smart to see that there is a difference between commitment and compatibility, which is an important distinction to make and to be aware of. I hope you can find a way out of this
