So my boyfriend and I have been dating for a year and a half. He is a welder and I am in both college & high school AND working 5 days a week. Despite the fact that he has leftover money after bills, he does not buy me anything. I get how that sounds like Im a gold digger... HOWEVER, I buy him almost anything he wants. He broke his $100 necklace chain, I bought him a new one. He wants food, Ill go and get it and bring it to him. IN FACT, my parents are even paying $1500 for him to go on a cruise with me. Yet it seems like the only thing I get in return is thank you. Which yes, my goal is to make him happy, but sometimes when I want something thats something small he should be able to do it instead of spending his extra money on going out to eat and the bar. The only time he spends money on me is if we go out to eat TOGETHER, and sometimes I even pay. Correct me if Im wrong, but I feel like Im working to hard for this guy and hes not worth my time anymore. Yes this guy loves me, he will make the time to see me as much as possible. But when he cant treat me how I deserve to be treated I dont believe he is worth it anymore, especially when I give him more than he deserves.

Hey there, hopefully you are doing well. There's a few things I would like to point out;

So my boyfriend and I have been dating for a year and a half. He is a welder and I am in both college & high school AND working 5 days a week. Despite the fact that he has leftover money after bills, he does not buy me anything. (This could be a sign of disconnection or this could be the way it makes you feel loved) I get how that sounds like Im a gold digger... HOWEVER, I buy him almost anything he wants. (This comes across as "I buy him everything! so he should also buy me things". I understand your frustration, but this is coming across as giving expecting something in return) He broke his $100 necklace chain, I bought him a new one. He wants food, Ill go and get it and bring it to him. (This is definetly the way you show you love by buying things etc, which is something that was taught growing up. I do see he is not investing much as you are) IN FACT, my parents are even paying $1500 for him to go on a cruise with me. Yet it seems like the only thing I get in return is thank you. (He is not going to value it because you are over investing and things are coming easy on him so he will always reply this way. I feel his investing in this relationship is low while yours is high, so he will not put much of the effort while you will want to close the gap with gifts etc) Which yes, my goal is to make him happy, (It's not a bad thing to do this, but you got to pay attention on how much he is investing on you. You could be giving in the same way you expect the other person to give back) but sometimes when I want something thats something small he should be able to do it (I could sense it's not about whether he buy things or not, you really want to see how much he cares about you or if he cares as much as you.) instead of spending his extra money on going out to eat and the bar. (In here you are feeling disconnected, which is making you feel unloved) The only time he spends money on me is if we go out to eat TOGETHER, and sometimes I even pay. Correct me if Im wrong, but I feel like Im working to hard for this guy and hes not worth my time anymore. (I think you are investing far too much on this guy without paying attention on how much he is investing on you. You are projecting unmet needs on him, giving and giving on order to feel loved) Yes this guy loves me, he will make the time to see me as much as possible. But when he cant treat me how I deserve to be treated I dont believe he is worth it anymore, especially when I give him more than he deserves. (Thats why you should invest far less and not be so eager to buy him things because people will not value this over investment you are showing. People value; 1) what they have to work, 2) what doesn't come easy and 3) what other people value. You are doing so much thats going to make him feel trapped and take you for granted)

@freshLight64

The moment you ask yourself if you deserve better then you probably do. Never cheat yourself
