As a part of the community that aims to build a chain of love and compassion, I believe that you all are beautiful souls with great compassion for others. But what about compassion for yourself?

1. What is self-compassion means to you?
2. What is the example of self-compassion?
3. Would you share ideas on self-compassion in practice when you feel not good enough for something or someone?
4. Would you share ideas on self-compassion in practice when you regret your behavior toward someone else?
Have a wonderful rest of the week. Cheers! ๐

1. What is self-compassion means to you?
Self compassion means being kind, gentle and understanding towards ourselves . Accepting we are only human and deserve our own support and affection too , specially when we are feeling down or having a difficult time .
2. What is the example of self-compassion?
An example of self compassion would be forgiving oneself for something they did wrong or hurtful and reassuring that mistakes happen , it is okay to accept them and learn from them, then move on eventually .
3. Would you share ideas on self-compassion in practice when you feel not good enough for something or someone?
Self compassion can be practiced When feeling like not good enough for something or someone , by giving yourself time and space to let those feelings out . To try make a list of things one is good at , and those that can be imporved ~ be more inclined towards appreciating yourself . If we change our own perception for ourselves and accept us as we are ~ acknowledging we are only human , and no one is perfect ~ the rest of the world's opinions don't matter much !
4. Would you share ideas on self-compassion in practice when you regret your behavior toward someone else?
I feel this is one hard situation to be in , it gets difficult to practice compassion when we feel we hurt someone or acted in a way we shouldn't have ~ the regret affects alot , I believe it helps to realise that we are only human , and so our feelings and actions , we acted in a situation where we thought we did the right thing ~ perhaps clouded by the feelings or the overwhelming circumstances , just assuring ourselves that we didn't really intend to hurt anyone ~ empathize with ourselves , and accept our mistake and try to make amends ( if possible ) or simply learn the lesson and take our time to process those feelings, perhaps trying journaling or talking to someone we confide in to share the load of the emotions could help too .
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou that's beautiful points there Sun! โญโญโญ
Compassion for others is easiest specially in this community, self-compassion is easier when we're not actually made mistake, and the hardest part is having self-compassion where we actually wronged others.
I love your points there where we own our mistakes, show compassion to ourselves, make amends if possible, and learn from our mistakes for self-improvement. Brilliant!
Cheers! ๐
Awh thankyouuu โค @ouiCherie
hello @ouiCherie. this is an awesome topic to discuss. I and my close friends always try to encourage one another about self-compassion and love. I think it is very important for our overall health.
1. What is self-compassion means to you?
For me, self-compassion means to give love to one's self. Not being too hard on yourself all the time and understanding yourself more.
2. What is the example of self-compassion?
Accepting our own imperfections and praising yourself in any achievements (great or small).
3. Would you share ideas on self-compassion in practice when you feel not good enough for something or someone?
Whenever I feel down about myself, I try to reflect back on the accomplishments to boost me to overcome the negative feeling and turning it to positive.
4. Would you share ideas on self-compassion in practice when you regret your behavior toward someone else?
Reflecting on one's actions is very important I think and being able to accept that you have hurt/disrespected someone else. But it is also important to acknowledge the mistake you made and do something to make it better, maybe apologize or change one's behavior to avoid making that same mistake. Trying to make yourself better is something very therapeutice.
Thank you
@ouiCherie
Hey! Thank you for making this thread. This is my response to your awesome questions and I thank you for this platform!
Let me just start by saying self-compassion is definitely a difficult skill to learn. It is complicated and it can take many forms. I will say that everyone has a form of self-compassion in one way, shape, or form and everyone is able to access it too. Anyone who tells you it is impossible, is not looking deep enough. I have struggled with self-compassion and I still struggle with it in many aspects of my life. It is definitely something that takes time, practice, and experience. Self-compassion to me means being easy on myself when I mess up or get something wrong. It is not taking everything person and self-compassion allows me to say "hey, maybe it is not able me" and gives me the opportunity to look at the other person's intention and if it is about me or on me then I give myself empathy. The thing is people may attack you, criticize you, or maybe even ignore you. But, you will always always always keep your value. That is where this concept of self-compassion comes in; being kind to your self and realizing an keeping your value.
Hi @greysonn that's wonderful! *thumbs up*
Great points to note there:
โ self-compassion can be difficult but it's possible.
โ When something went wrong, take a step back to observe the situation and proceed with empathy.
โ Look deep into ourselves, know our core values and keep it.
Hope I got it correctly, and thank you so much for the inputs! Love it. ๐
I honestly just treat others the way they should be treated its wrong to treat them any other way especially if your being mean or rude, but I have no clue if im being compassionate towards them, also I have no clue what self compassion is so im kinda clueless sorry
Hi @shyomega123 thanks for responding to the post ๐
I get it. Ideally, we treat who wronged us with kindness as those who are rude, mean, or toxic are the ones who needed kindness the most. But that's the ideal, and we're just human.
Self-compassion needed when we have tendency to beat ourselves hard, or have endless self-criticism.
Hi Cherie, I hope you are alright. This is probably the most difficult thing I have ever replied to on here. But, I am going to do as good as I am able.
1. What is self-compassion means to you? safety and also allowing myself to have enough peace, quiet, and alone time to not be so very stressed, as I have 3 diagnosis that all involve extreme stress problems. I have to give myself peace to keep functioning and doing responsibilities in life.
2. What is the example of self-compassion? peaceful, quiet, alone time in a VERY SAFE place
3. Would you share ideas on self-compassion in practice when you feel not good enough for something or someone? I will withdraw to be sure that I am not in their way or a nuisance to them. It also gives me time to think of some ways that I can still be good to them. I have to try to get myself together and realize that I am not so horrible. I do a lot of typing writing/journeling.
4. Would you share ideas on self-compassion in practice when you regret your behavior toward someone else? I make sure first that I am good to them, let them know I realize my mistakes, that I am truly sorry for my behavior, and that I will work to not do it again. Then, I can go and think by myself, and come up with ways to be and act better for the future.
Self-compassion to me means to care for self. To be able to connect to self, without withholding. To be open to all postives and negatives, without holding on to any negative or positive, to admit your ups and downs without judging yourself. To permit to be, to be self, yout true and only being.
2. What is the example of self-compassion?
An example to me is to greet any pain or suffering, to acknowledge it without letting taking control of you. You are entitled to feelings and emotions, and show welcome them, rather then ignoring and denying.
3. Would you share ideas on self-compassion in practice when you feel not good enough for something or someone?
I know that I basically have a lot of unconditional love for self and others. Whenever I feel down, rejected, or feel like the 5th wheel, I try to remind my self of that. Which is tough when you are in a relationship with a lot of inflicted pain (not on purpose) and hurtful misunderstandings. On the other hand, it adds to the challenge ;)
4. Would you share ideas on self-compassion in practice when you regret your behavior toward someone else?
I am a being, not a robot. I make mistakes, each and every day, small ones and big ones. Quite a few big mistakes. I am working on that, and I try to listen to self, to my true being, to understand that I (not self but I) make mistakes, get angry, and that it is part of a learning process. A process to be more aware, more self. That doesn't mean that I justify behavior. It means that I am compassionate towards my self. Without being compassionate to self, I might do damage to those I love. Including my true self.
