Looking for Christian Advice About a Complicated Family Situation

 Hello,

I’m reaching out because I’m dealing with a long‑term family situation involving my wife’s adult son (38), and it has become very stressful for both of us. He has been living in our office building for several years, and we now must sell the property. He refuses to move, has no job, and has nowhere to go. He also does not want to live with us.

Communication is extremely limited. He will only text my wife, and even then, there is never a real plan or solution. The conversations are always centered on his needs, never on the impact this situation is having on us, and nothing ever changes.

There are signs he may be struggling with something beyond what my wife and I can address on our own, possibly a mental or emotional issue. We are concerned that if he doesn’t choose a different option soon, he will end up homeless.

I’m not looking for counseling for myself, but I do need direction on how to handle this in a healthy and God‑honoring way. I don’t want to overwhelm anyone with details, but the situation is serious enough that I’m hoping someone can point me toward the right next steps or resources.

Thank you for your time and help.

i hear you and am sorry this is happen within your family.  you have told him what needs to be done. even offered him a place to stay that living with you and your wife. he still not willing to move from place you told him your selling. so on that part you done everything right and in a Godley  way,

all i know is things one can do in the USA, not sure were you live as far as in the world.

if in USA you can call a mental health place ask them what you can do at this point. sometimes one can get a court  ordered to put someone in a mental health places. the cops would  be one to take person there. i believe they can hold the person 72 hours then they have to decide  if they stay or not if not they have to have a court  hearing then  judge would decide if they have to stay,

this to me would be a  deep caring about his mental health. yes i had this done to me and am grateful  someone cared that much about me,

i know this would be very hard to do to him. but also very loving too. God all about love and showing love to others. so it hard sometimes to do the right thing for another person

this also would help him take steps to better his life even maybe get a job and place of his own.

God bless you
