I’m scared of losing faith

Hi, I’m new to Islam and I’m actually not Officially a muslim yet. I believe in Allah and his Messengers but I did not make it official yet. Allah have bring me this man into my life and he guided me the all way through it, but I lost him today, and I’m truly scared I will lose my faith because of this. It has been really hard for us both and I am very grateful for him, but he just gave up on Us today.

We got this verse from Allah saying;

And He united their hearts. If you had given all that is on earth, you could not have united their hearts. But He united them.

For He is the All-Powerful, the All-Wise.

So I believe with my whole heart that We are soulmates. Just my past is hurting him so much he left. And I don’t know what to do, and I’m worried.

Assalamu alaikum !! @lovelyAiko💜💞

I’m truly sorry you’re going through this pain. Losing someone who was part of your spiritual journey can shake the heart deeply, and it’s completely natural to feel afraid right now. Please don’t be hard on yourself—this fear does not mean you’re losing faith; it means your heart is wounded.

I want you to know something from my heart: it's around 4am here...... I’m praying for you right now. I did my tahajjud, and I sincerely made dua for you—that Allah eases your pain, steadies your heart, and protects your iman. So please don’t worry. You are remembered in prayer.

Remember, Allah guided you—not a person. That person may have been a means, but Allah is the One who placed faith in your heart. What He gives directly, no one can take away. And what He removes is never without wisdom, even when it hurts more than words can explain.

You mentioned that beautiful verse about Allah uniting hearts. Yes, He does that—but He is also the Most Wise. Sometimes hearts are united for a season, to heal, to teach, or to guide, and then gently released so we can grow stronger on our own with Allah.

Your past does not define your worth in Islam. Allah’s mercy is greater than any past, any mistake, any pain. All He asks for is sincerity—and you clearly have that.

May Allah replace your sorrow with peace, your fear with certainty, and your loss with something better than you ever imagined. May He hold your heart firm and draw you closer to Him in a way that brings you lasting comfort.

You are not alone. Allah is closer than you think. 🌙

Hugs 💝 🤗

@lovelyAiko,  Dear sister,

I’m truly sorry for what you are going through. Losing someone you love can shake the heart very deeply, and it’s completely human to feel afraid and confused in moments like this.

From what I have learned through Risale-i Nur, which is a Qur’anic commentary, there is a very comforting truth: Allah sometimes brings people into our lives as a means, but He never wants our faith to depend on a person. People may come and go, but Allah remains, holding the heart.

The verse you mentioned is very true — Allah unites hearts. And that same verse gently reminds us that it is Allah who does the uniting, not human effort. Sometimes, when a bond is taken away, it is not a rejection, but a protection — so that the heart learns to lean directly on Allah, not on a human being.

Your past does not distance you from Allah. In Islam, what matters most is the direction of the heart now. The fact that you are worried about your faith is not a weakness — it is actually a sign of sincerity.

Please don’t feel rushed to “be official” or to make big decisions right now. Faith grows best with patience, honesty, and gentleness toward oneself. You can simply turn to Allah and say:
“O Allah, keep my heart connected to You.”

If you ever feel like reading something that speaks to the journey of faith in a very human and thoughtful way, you might find comfort in Jeffrey Lang’s book “Struggling to Surrender.” Many people who came to Islam later in life found his words reassuring.

You are not alone. Allah sees your struggle, and He is closer than you think.

All the best.

@Inpursuitoftruth73116, @lovelyAiko

Your words reminded me of a verse from the Qur’an that explains this closeness so beautifully. In Surah Qaf (50:16–17), Allah says that He created the human being, knows what passes through the heart, and is closer to us than our jugular vein. With such nearness and care, we are never truly alone—even in our hardest moments.

Thank you for your words. You really helped me and I appreciate it. I will also try to find that book to see what you have been talking about.

I feel closer to Allah now and I read Quran almost daily which makes me feel good about myself and my bond stronger

I hope you will be protected and blessed by Allah, my dear sister/brother

@lovelyAiko Dear sister,

Thank you for your kind words — they truly mean a lot to me. I’m very glad to hear that you feel closer to Allah and that reading the Qur’an has strengthened your heart. That closeness itself is a beautiful gift.

I’m happy you’re considering Jeffrey Lang’s Struggling to Surrender. If you ever wish to continue that journey, his book Even Angels Ask is also very thoughtful and illuminating, especially for those who reflect deeply and ask sincere questions.

There is a principle I once came across in a Qur’anic reflection that stayed with me: in times like ours, the greatest gift and responsibility is to protect one’s own faith and to help strengthen the faith of others through sincerity and example. I feel this is exactly what moments like these quietly teach us.

May Allah continue to protect you, bring peace to your heart, and bless your path with clarity and strength.

With sincere prayers,
Your brother in faith

The divine has many names, all of which i respect. I believe that there is a pre determined path for all of us. That path will unfold partly based on the decisions we make. Partly based on what the divine knows is meant for us. He may call us to walk upon stony ground with doubt in our heart. He may ask us to question why our lives have diverted from the path we were so sure of.

What is meant for you, won't go past you. Both faith and spiritual trust require us to follow. To be blind to our true path but trust the one He has placed in front of us.

Whatever pain will pass, for he doesn't want us to suffer. He wants us to fulfil our highest potential.

We all pray differently. But in a quiet moment, i would light a candle and imagine His healing light surrounding you. And i would ask.....ask what is meant for you ? Ask for the strength to deal with the challenges that come your way. He sees the bigger picture, while we view a tiny snap shot.

May all go well for you. Sending love and light x
