Can you open your chakras at will? Have you experienced kundalini awakening?

@Slayer22 Yes, the Chakras and Kundalini are big elements in Indian spiritual practices, specifically Hinduism and Buddhism. From what I know, it's a practice that can both be rewarding and be dangerous. It requires a lot of training, supervision, and careful instruction. I've heard of mishaps happening where people can do it wrong and suffer some consequences. Awakening kundalinis can be an intense and scary experience. Now, I am an athiest and into STEM but having experienced some interesting phenomena while meditating has led me to understand that there definitely is something, not supernatural, but something very sensitive and dormant in our body that we can perceive when we're in a certain concentrated state.

Chakras are not attached to any religion. You can feel them just like you feel your physical limbs. Are your limbs part of any religion? Of course not. Also, kundalini is just energy. I had mine awakening at one point but I was ready.

Well, there's a difference between the reality of it in all human beings which no one is disputing here, and the religious traditions that systematized and investigated them in depth, the traditions being Hinduism and Buddhism.

From Wikipedia:

"chakra (/ˈʌkrəˌˈæk-ˌˈɑːk-/;[1] Sanskritचक्रromanizedcakralit.'wheel, circle'; Palicakka) is a meditation-aid in the form of a psychic or psychospiritual energy-center in the subtle body, as visualized in a variety of Hindu and Buddhist tantric yoga and meditation practices.[2][3][4]"

I'd prefer these religions, and certainly the Indian civilization, be acknowledged since Western Colonialists and its beneficiaries are quick to co-opt the practices and erase and sanitize the practices of all the culture. Thank you!

By the way, there's an interesting story associated with a revered saint in India, named Neem Karoli Baba. Someone arrived at his ashram asking him to tell him how to awaken his Kundalini, how to get enlightened. Baba just said, "Feed People". You see, people often get trapped in the mire of kundalini awakening as a mechanical process which has nothing to do with religion, and form attachments and misperceptions as a result. I've heard of people losing their minds, becoming insane, depressed because they irresponsibly practiced it. There's got to be preparation, guidance for it... accompanied by devotion, equanimity... not just as words, but as mental factors that can be experienced in context of the divine. Kundalini is way more complicated than simply being defined as just energy, and a careless attitude can be dangerous.

@Slayer22 Although I've never done Kundalini, I've been doing Chakras for a little while now. From my own experience, I don't personally believe that you can do it by force, it has to be done naturally. Having a depressed & closed mindset won't allow you to feel energy vs. having a clear & open-mindset. You really need to be clear-headed and focused to feel any natural energy, opening of Chakras, health benefits, wellness, intuition, and any psychic abilities if you have them.

@Slayer22 the chakras and kundalini energy can be powerful and dangerous if not ready to use them constructively. Playing with electricity or fire is not advisable unless one learns the laws that govern them and how to use them in a constructive and safe way. Learning ethical behavior is one way to prepare ourselves for using this great potential.

To me the question I ask is, "What will I do with that energy once it is discovered? Will I just use it for personal amusement or for helping other people and myself to be better beings?"

How I use these potentials is an important question to answer.
