Poetry Month
A friend is doing Poem a Day prompts for National Poetry Month in the US. Yesterday's prompt was Starless Skies and i started thinking about not being able to see the stars in the city and how that's not too different from how we let distractions, especially screens, keep us isolated. I thought this would be a good place to share it. might be interesting to share your own poetry on spiritual issues.
Starless skies
From backlit eyes
To starless skies.
Community veiled,
Communion denied.
Blinded to radiance on all sides.
@blueHuman3349
@blueHuman3349 I really like your poem. It speaks to the prompt in a very direct way. This thought came to me about how things seem to me sometimes so I just jotted it down.
In my starless eyes,
Blind to this precious life,
By all the glaring dreams,
Filled with strife.
'
Just like starless skies
Drowned in city lights
Yearning for the chance to be
Shining in the darkest night.
@soulsings, @bluehuman3349,
Poetry has a quiet way of bringing peace to the soul—such a beautiful expression of thought.
For National Poetry Month, I wanted to share these lines by Said Nursi.
Then listen to the stars, listen to their harmonious address!
See what wisdom has emblazed on the decree of its light.
Altogether they start to speak with the tongue of truth,
They address the majesty of the All-Powerful, All-Glorious One
sovereignty:
We are each of us light-scattering proofs of the existence of our Maker,
We are witnesses both to His Unity and His Power,
We are subtle miracles gilding the face of the skies for the angels to
gaze upon.
We are the innumerable attentive eyes of the heavens which watch the earth,
which study Paradise.
