What is one piece of (safety/knowledge) advice you would give a new member?

What are some things you wish you had known when you first joined as a member?

You would get better at understanding yourself more, and you will know healthier ways of coping with issues as time goes on.

I still consider myself pretty new since I'm not on for long times and I forget what's up pretty easily, but my advice is Noni is helpful! It can help you find someone to talk to, my favorite listeners were found through Noni rather than searching myself. And if you just want a sympathetic convo partner to get your brains out, you can just talk to Noni!

Don't give up if you don't find a good listener for yourself on the first go. This site has a lot of good listeners, don't let the poorer ones discourage you.

Personally, you may have to try several listeners until you find someone that you click with.

It's always good to pick a topic, so you're more likely to be matched with someone that has knowledge in that area :)

One of the hardest days is when you sign up because a injury hurts when it starts healing.

Allow the capability and use of the site to help you build yourself up so that you can have the self-esteem to overcome what you're going through. Sometimes, it's hard to dive head-first into the "real-world" when you're struggling, so having an escape that feels safe is a great first step toward gaining the confidence to venture out and grow within personal relationships. Don't be afraid or embarrassed to seek help outside of the site.
