Bad Info
@Laura, this is from your post:
Are all posts anonymous?
Yes, at 7 Cups of Tea, we respect your privacy. When you post as a member, only your member name will be visible on the forum. There will be no other information shared with any user on the site.
Will someone be able to see my profile and message me?
No, there will be no access to any of your information. Your name is not a clickable link on the forum.
Other information is shared. My name IS a clickable link where people can access my profile. People can see when I was last active there, it's not something I'm able to opt out of. Other information I post is also available there.
@Laura again, because throwing in the comma probably meant the tag didn't work.
Thanks for this post! I was curious about this issue as well, and I look forward to getting an answer.
@AffyAvo - You raise a good point...
Yes, of course you're right about all this (and I hope to see similar posts because these are pretty good), but not a whole lot can change and honestly - mano a mano, I would wholeheartedly suggest that the first priority be yourself. Make sure that you don't get too wound up over this kind of stuff cuz seriously it'll drive you crazy to care a lot and not have your voice heard. Kinda make it like a side dish thing, ya know? I hope you get the answers you're looking for and that this problem is fixed. But don't feel too disappointed if it isn't because I assure you (and you'd probably know anyway) it's a typical occurrence.
@OrunLeon Thanks for the reminder to look after myself first!
For a community about listening I do find many comments about issues with the site don't seem to be heard - unless it's something that Krink can help with.
It's frustrating as rarely am I bringing up something that's about me, but rather an issue that can affect many here. WIth this, I feel like it's potentially hurtful and if I was coming in for the first time and I picked up on this incorrect information it would make me question other things like confidentiality with a 1-1 chat.
I understand admins are busy, but I brought this up in the thread back in Aug, I've tried putting in a support ticket.
There are constantly more things on the go - but often no one bothers to answers when questions come up. Look at the forum friends - there is STILL ambiguity over growth path level vs member level and the question was brought up about 3 months ago.
The payments just make these problems bigger IMO. At this point, it's certainly not something I feel comfortable contributing to. They won't even be clear with the payment about the units. Changes have been made, but the ones that should be a major priority IMO, like transparency, weren't prioritized.
Last active is in reference to the last month in which you were active. It does not give specific days or weeks. It is kept general on purpose. Does having the last month you were active on 7 Cups cause a specific problem for you?
@Laura
No, I do not specifically have an issue personally with the last activity info being provided. There have been situations in my life where information like that would have caused a problem for me though.
The bigger problem is we are being told one thing and something else is actually occurring, that was one example of information that was being shared in a situation where we are told our names are not clickable links.
Actions speak louder than words. When we can find inconsistency that is so blatant, it often brings other things into question.
Why not just provide information that is actually consistent with what occurs? I see no need for this to take months after pointing it out.
@AffyAvo
Where does it say we will not share when you were last active? Nobody is intentionally trying to deceive you or anyone else who uses the site. This seems to be the theme of your post. If there is a mistake in language that was used, we apologize. But nobody is trying to intentionally deceive you.
@Laura Due to this, which I have pointed out multiple times:
Will someone be able to see my profile and message me?
No, there will be no access to any of your information. Your name is not a clickable link on the forum.
The names ARE clickable links. I am able to go to profile pages this way. There is information on these profiles.
@Laura Maybe you will understand better if I use some of the goals and guidelines on the site.
- Professionalism Having incorrect information under the FAQs is not professional
- Kindness and empathy Place yourself in someone else's shoes and think about how this could create potential issues for them, or negative feelings
-Prevent Rumor Spreading- A rumor is defined as a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth. The truth in the FAQ is doubtful
-Respect Boundaries Telling someone that their profile can't be viewed by clicking on their name from the forums and then allowing this may be crossing some people's boundaries.
-Engage in healthy problem solving It seems to me that correcting the information in the FAQs wouldn't be difficult for those with forum editing capabilities. It appears to be a simple fix, but I don't have editing privileges. So I reached out to you, as you both wrote it and have the capability to edit. Instead of questioning me over the possible issues with the incorrect information, isn't just simpler to correct it?
While the blatantly wrong information was changed, the change was minimal and I find the information to be confusing. I will type Laura's wording in blue as there is no quote feature or indentation and "" with multiple lines looks a bit clunky and is confusing with multiple quotes of multiple lines.

To me, if I was at this site for the first time, this brings up questions like if my name is a clickable link, why? There is no access to any of my information. The second point is basically using the logic No, A and B are not true as B is not true - with just stating no.
Proposal:
Are all posts anonymous?
Yes, at 7 Cups of Tea, we respect your privacy. When you post as a member, [only removed] your member name will be visible on the forum. Your real name, if different from your member name and email address will not be shared.
Will someone be able to see my profile and message me?
[First sentence removed] Your name is a clickable link on the forum that goes to your profile. From a profile, only listeners can be sent a message, users are unable to initiate a conversation with a member.
hay @Laura dear i hate to bump something so long ago, but this seems to have not changed meaningfully.

Suggested updates:
Who can see my posts?
Your posts will be visible to any visitor on the forum page. However, your identity will remain anonymous. (all this is fine)
Are all posts anonymous?
As much as possible. At 7 Cups of Tea, we respect your privacy. When you post as a Member, only your user name and image will be visible on the forum. Listeners and members, and visitors will also be able to view your public profile. (info about setting it here)
Will someone be able to see my profile and message me?
Yes, your name directs users to view your public profile, where moderators or listeners may also choose to send you a message. Members may also choose to contact listeners they meet in the forums.
(may want to include supportive "what about my chats listeners etc!" > "ofc they are all private my dearest!") *nods* <3
