New Messages Not Showing
When in a group support room or in 1-1 my chat doesn't seem to refresh, so I'd miss half a conversation because of this. When I refresh my browser manually, tons of messages appear? Whyyyyy????
I'm having the same problem on my laptop (MacOS 10.6.8, Firefox 42.0) with both 1-1 and group chat. I've submitted support tickets; you should do the same. See the bottom of this page.
On the same computer, the chats do work in Safari, but the site is an essentially unreadable mess.
It works fine on my desktop machine at work (MacOS 10.10.5, Firefox 42.0)
I've also had a problem with this on my listener account when I was talking to someone and messages not getting through - has anyone else experienced this at all?
@aquaWheel7161
I was in a chatroom yesterday and a member was saying she couldn't contact her listener at all. The day before there was another person whose posts I could see but that didn't seem to be visible to others, nor were mine (when I changed browsers I was welcomed as if I hadn't been there all along). So I think a fair number of people have been having problems recently.
I've had the same problems with this in the past 2/3 weeks. I suppose the people upstairs will start looking at it once they've finished all the other incredibly important time consuming useful popularly requested stuff such as: feed problems, site design, app design, backing 7 Cups etc etc.
Maybe clearing cache's for the site will resolve the issue? I'm not experiencing it at all and that's the first thing I did when I ran into technical issues. I'm not sure if it would fix that but it might be worth a try?
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn @devTeam
Any ideas on how to fix it?
@Baubs
it's often a good idea to refresh your cache, especially nowadaya when we are squashing bugs for the apps and the site and so your browser may not always have the latest javacsript cached, etc.
The fix to this problem seems to be ultimately on our side, though... something about the node mechanism that delivers the messages is "going to sleep" for some people sometimes and we still need to determine why and how to prevent that (or detect and recover from it).
This seems to be happening a bunch lately and according to folks on the thread has been going on and off for the past few weeks?
I've been talking to @ezraBC about this problem, as it seems to relate to somethng called our node servers... like one of them silently dies without telling anybody and stops updating its share of the endpoints...
We'll figure it out. I'm going to add a link to this thread to the bug ticket for more context. @orunleon is correct that we have a huge list of things to deal with!
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
I've only noticed it the past 4-5 days, and only at home (that could be the computer, or maybe it's the time of day)
@squib
thanks!
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
Thank you so much for all your efforts!

it is my pleasure, my dear @anchoredwithhope

Yes, thank you guys for all your job for maintaining this incredible place. I have also faced this problem with deisappearing messages and inability to contact a listener. I figured out that this occurs only when using Safari, in Chrome it's look sweet and smooth. Maybe it will help.
