Not getting replies
I just joined as a listener today, I messaged a couple of General Requests but still haven't gotten a reply. Is it normal to not always get replies? Or am I doing something wrong?
@HSK28 - This definitely happens sometimes and isn't anything you're doing wrong! Some members will request a listener, but the wait will be too long and they leave, others request it, but then get nervous before the listener responds and decide not to answer.
A good policy if you don't get an answer is wait a bit (I usually give 10-15 minutes, others say 5) and then say something like "It seems like you're not here anymore, but if you are interested in chatting later, feel free to let me know. Take care" and close the window / take a new request.

Welcome to 7 Cups! We are very happy to have you with us!! Yes, it is common to message someone and not get a reply. We like to call this a 'ghost chat'. The person may have gone offline for many reasons- they couldn't wait; their internet lagged; they became too nervous to chat; they got interested in a chat room- many reasons. It's nothing to do with you. When you message people and get no answer, please wait a few minutes and ask if they are still there. If after a few more minutes you get no answer or notice they have gone offline, please message them that you are sorry to have missed them and must end the chat but you hope they return to talk with you or another of our wonderful Listeners. Then simply end the chat and move to the next General Request. If you ever need help or reassurance, please feel free to contact me or another Mentor on this site for information and support.
