Reasonable Wait Times

Hey there, this is a very valid concern, and unfortunately it varies in almost every instance.

1. With general requests, there has been a lot of high traffic lately, so unfortunately the wait time can be long. For example right now there are 83 guests/members waiting with an average wait time of 4.5 minutes, but there are other times of day when there are say, 5 requests and they get picked up immediately. I know that even with the high traffic, the admin team wants guests to feel comfortable and heard which is why they've experimented with adding Noni to ask prompting questions while you wait and also give the option of chatting in group support or visiting the forums. Additionally, they've set up offline requests so that even if you get tired of waiting, you can be connected with someone who will chat with you when you're both available.

2. With personal requests, this all depends on which listener you select and how available they are at the moment. Some listeners, even when set to online, are engaged in other chats or away from the computer or are elsewhere on the site such as the group support rooms or the forums, so sometimes you may have to try out a few listeners to get someone who responds right away (and I know that can be frustrating!) Unfortunately, not everyone uses their online/busy settings in a way that communicates their actual availability.

3. In regards to response time during chats, you definitely deserve an attentive and responsive listener. Some listeners choose to engage in more than one chat at a time so their attention is divided or they end up not replying (for whatever reason that may be) and regardless of the circumstances if you feel that a listener has abandoned you or is taking a very long time to reply, I would highly encourage you to either leave that information in a written review so that a quality mentor can work with them on it, to leave it as a star review (one section is "response time"), or to email community@7cups.com about it if it is too early in the chat to leave feedback.

I know it's really disheartening to have to wait so long to connect with listeners as the site continues to grow, and it's even more discouraging to be connected with someone and have them stop replying, but I do hope you'll stick around and keep trying. The admin team is constantly working to make the site more efficient and more comfortable for members given the increase in usage as of late.
