Unpopular Question
I still never see an abuser here at 7 cups
If I say I'm an abuser(saying I wanted to change) logging in here at 7 cups, what would you react or say?
@mono101 I just want to clarify, you're looking to see how different people here would respond and not asking a question about 7 Cups' policy?
Wanting to change doesn't mean the abuse has ended. Abuse also covers a huge range of behaviour.
If someone is unable to stop being abusive in a relationship, they need to change their situation. This can mean ending a relationship temporarily or permanently or at least creating some space (such as living in 2 separate residences).
If someone has been abusing someone and hasn't stopped and they are here for support my response would vary a bit on the specific situation. I'm likely to report them using the relevant reporting method based on site area. I may be in a situation to provide a resource where appropriate help can be sought.
@AffyAvo What 7 cups' policy are you saying?
@mono101 To use 7 Cups people must not be suicidal, homicidal, nor abusing anyone.
@mono101 Hi there, welcome to 7 Cups. You have already had some answers and replies, and I applaud you for trying to seek support here. But, from a Listener point of view we are trained that we cannot support members whilst they are engaging in criminal activity, and that we should politely end the chat. That includes abuse. You may find some listeners are unwilling to even listen to an historic abuser as they may have been abused themselves and the chat might be triggering for them.
There are many websites that do offer the support you seem to be looking for. @AffyAvo says she has some, but a google search tapered to what you want exactly may help more?
I wish you good luck on your journey.
