Another year around the Sun
I am close to another full rotation around the sun (birthday is fast approaching). I hate receiving presents. I know money is tight and I feel bad when people spend money on me.
A co-worker believes that I don't feel worthy of receiving presents. I guess, in a way, he is correct.
I don't leave the house on that day. I take a vacation day from work so I don't hear it from my co-workers. I don't tell anyone what day it is. I wish we could just skip the day altogether.
How do I go about addressing this?

I'm sorry you don't like celebrating your birthday but we are all different in how we approach things. You might not want gifts but can you not just mark the day simply in a way that doesn't overwhelm you or put pressure on others, you never really know how many birthdays we will have, so it's important to mark them. Maybe just have a small cake with your co workers and a no present policy 💕💜
@Amanda84 Honestly, I wouldn't even want a cake. No one wishing me a happy birthday or anything. It would just be another day.
