How to stop letting others decisions impact your feelings?

I am aware I internalize all of my feelings and take things super personally. I am aware I have no control of other people's actions. How do I stop taking choices and actions of others (family, significant others) so personally? I always blame myself for others actions telling myself I'm not good enough, it is my fault the made those choices, etc. An example would be my dad not responding to me for months and ignoring my messages. I know he is battling with mental health struggles and rationally I know I didn't do anything wrong and he's not mad at me but my brain still reacts like he is mad at me and doesn't like me. I'm not sure how to stop blaming myself for things that I rationally shouldn't blame myself for and becoming so emotionally affected.

Changing your view helps.  instead of asking what did you do ask what are they going thru ... you knew he was having mental health struggles,

example people who have not responded to a text or call and days or weeks go by...  we fear the worst or think they are mad.  But maybe they are ashamed of not responding and not keeping up contact.  they may not want to share they are struggling with things . This can be very true with parents who have a hard time not acting like they have it together for kids.  regardless of your age.
