My worth as a human
I understand that I'm not like most people, nor have I lived my life like most individuals and that's okay.
What's not okay is if I let people determine my value based on their perception or opinions. It's just a energy that I'm not giving away on here anymore.
My worth isn't determined by a human or something as trivial as a heart or vote.
My core is so much deeper than what the world understands and something that God only knows.

It's wonderful that you are different. It is great that you have lived a different life. And so sad if any of us feel we must conform to some kind of norm. We are all unique, so how can we all be the same?
And so right. Don't let your value be determined by other people or external things. Your worth is so much more than a heart or vote.

I was using this site as a means to help with my struggles. It's helped in some ways but now I'm starting to see that it's turned to one big popularity contest.
It's becoming very facebookish.

Thats interesting. I've never seen that aspect of it. I wonder how I have managed to avoid that.
Maybe it is because I wouldn't be interested in engaging with people for whom such things are important? I come here for mysrlf, so I'm not interested in what anyone else is doing and certainly not interested in comparing myself to what others are doing. I've never tried to obtain hearts or badges or whatever. I find that I collect them just by doing whatever feels right for my progress. I guess that is it - I'm more interested in how I feel about my progress, than what some badges say about my progress.
What if you changed the parts of the site you visit, or the time you visit? Maybe you will find the type of people I tend to find - the people who value you and not any score. I'd be pleased to see you around more.

Also I don't think you read this correctly. I actually wasn't upset about anything. I was just stating my perspective of how I feel about the mechanics of this app.
I don't compare myself to others. Never have, never will. What I was doing was stating my testimony of how I found my worth through my gospel studies.
Until just recently I had low self esteem, not because of wanting to have someone elses life but because of childhood circumstances that progressed to adulthood.
I had a very unhealthy social life and lifestyle to some extent but that's been left behind so when I'm using a site like this I just notice how trivial something like a heart or upvote is.
Many people come to 7cups to get away from all of that, *** drama and nonsense...likes and hearts.
Like I said that's very facebookish and I don't want to mix and mingle my mental health with more of the mainstream.
It's probably why so many people grow deeper into depression...

I apologize for the late reply but you're not at fault. Neither of us did anything wrong. So hopefully you weren't worried for sounding offensive and hopefully you didn't think that I was being defensive.
7cups is a great resource for mental health but I stand by my words when I say the feed can be an endless stream of negative lamenting and it doesn't really help many of us trying to transition out of the mainstream, with mainstream elements...
But like I said, neither of us is at fault.
Who knows, you might be able to help me one day...
