I'm still afraid of what they think.
Hi, this is my first time interacting here, so I'm a little nervous... A couple of years ago I used to self-harm, but I've stopped. Now I think I'm on the right track, but something is bothering me a bit: I have to hide my scars on my arms. I hide them at school and anywhere else except at home. I wonder if it will always be like this, because I'm still afraid of what people might think of me. Maybe they'll stop taking me seriously, judge me, or make me feel less than because I didn't know how to deal with my feelings. Anyway, I just wanted to share this. Thank you so much.

Hi, I think your fear is valid. However, I will share I have scars on my wrist, not from self harm, but one time my car was malfunctioning and I made the mistake of opening something that shouldn’t have been opened and got tremendous burns on my wrists.
However, in all the years since then, 30 plus years, no one has ever asked me about the scars.
If someone did, well, I’ve processed it enough now I would have some story to tell.
Same for you.
Your scars tell part of the story of who you are.
I’m glad you are no longer self harming.
There are also some solutions on the market which will soften your scars some and make them closer to invisible.
I’m proud of you for being so courageous to share out here.
Love and Courage,
Calm Rosebud

Many people have scars from various things while it is your choice to hide them, you will get to the point when you do not care what others think. Frankly if they have nothing to do but make assumptions about scars, they do not sound like people worth hanging out with.
