Mini Self-Harm?

I don’t really self-harm, per se, but I dig my fingernails into my palm and leave indentations, when stressed. Anybody else deal with this? How do you make yourself do something else instead?

It's difficult dealing with anxiety and stress, specially when things become too overwhelming and a lot to cope with. Super understandable to seek a way to cope with the stressor, with whatever feels most accessible at the time-being.

I'm v proud of you for trying to look for alternate options too, there's so many things to try out, an alternate safer way to self-soothe and distract.

I find this list quite comprehensive and hope you find something worth trying and helpful here too: https://www.7cups.com/forum/GetSupport_28/ManagingEmotions_47/AnExtensiveListofHealthyDistractionsSelfLoveTechniques_53317

I've done that too, just not a lot.  Usually I actually do it to keep myself from self-harming.  Maybe it's just a coping mechanism that you have a hard time not going so intensely with?

@jesusredeemedme2425

i am really glad you have reached out for support from others who are coping with similar behaviors.  I used to do something similar when I was younger when I was overly stressed or anxious.  I have found mindfulness to be helpful when I’m feeling anxious.  Have you checked out the mindfulness subcommunity here on 7 cups?
