Group Support organizing the month of Self-Harm Awareness Week,  the focus will be on discussing general awareness, and support, and celebrating milestones and small steps. This will be an opportunity for all of us to come together and extend our support and compassion to all who struggling with self-harm.

I welcome and invite you all to the Self-Harm Awareness - Hope Wall. This thread will act as a space to share messages of encouragement, hope, and self-compassion for anyone struggling with self-harm. A reminder to all that you are strong, you are worthy, and you are not alone.

Here are some ways to get us started:

  • Share a message of hope or encouragement for someone who is hurting.
  • Write a note of self-compassion to yourself or someone you care about.
  • Describe a healthy coping mechanism that helps you manage difficult emotions.
  • Share a positive experience that helped you through a challenging time.

Also, please remember:

  • Be kind and respectful in your posts.
  • Trigger warnings are appreciated if your message mentions specific details of self-harm.
  • If you are struggling and need immediate help, please reach out to a crisis hotline to get all the support you need to be safe. We are thinking of you.

Please know that your every message of hope, big or small, can make a difference in someone's rough day. Take a minute to share a message.

TW: mentions of suicide ideation and burning sh

Sorry this is a bit late, I’m not on 7cups often anymore. I first made this account when I was at the lowest point in my life about a year ago. The only way I managed to cope was through burning myself to try and get myself out of my own head. I didn’t even think I’d graduate my middle school. I never thought I’d be here.

Things have improved so much for me recently for the better. I never thought I’d graduate middle school nonetheless be in high school. I’ve been in such a low place mentally for a long time and never thought I’d see the day where things actually got better. But there is hope and things do get better, despite me thinking it wouldn’t and losing faith in each passing day.

A year ago is someone told me this was how my life was going, I’d laugh in their face and tell them to stop lying and that this would never be me. It’s so odd to see how much has changed. But it’s gotten for the better. On the 23rd of this month will mark me being one year clean from self harm. I’m so excited. I believe the 17th will mark a year of being on 7cups. It’s coincidental that this all falls on self harm awareness month.

There is hope and this does make me a hypocrite when I didn’t believe it myself for the longest time. But even if you don’t believe it, doesn’t mean that it’s not there. I didn’t have it but I still managed to make it out the other side. Please keep going and just have some patience for the light at the end of the tunnel. This is coming from someone who has struggled for 5 years before I got to where I am today. Things do get better.
