About a year ago i felt really really depressed and anxious (i have had depression for 4 years before that) and at my nervous state cut myself on a knife when i was making something to eat and i remember it making me feel better like all the worries were going away with the blood and i could not stop after that...(well i have been clean for a week now but it feels like i'm getting worse without it..weird i know..)

That's so awesome your a week clean :) it might not seem like much now but it's a great start. I also feel sometimes that I miss cutting and that it will help so instead of cutting my skin I cut up paper or I run scissors across plastic binders (which sounds weird I know :p) because it leave a scar looking mark on the plastic which makes you feel like your cutting somthing but it's not yourself. Coloring books also are fun to do. They take time and concentration and actually relax you a ton. Puzzles, reading, playing your favorite video game etc all help to. Just Remeber when you feel like cutting thier is always a fun alternative out there you can do. Hugs and kisses xoxox.

My first time was in 7th grade, but I can't really remember any of that...

I was in 7th grade (I'm in 10th now). I can't remember exactly what triggered it but I remember rummaging through my parents junk drawer trying to find somthing sharp to use to cut. I couldn't find anything so I ended up using old staples I found lying around to scratch myself. The next day my friend ask what they were from and I was so embarresed and had the worst lie to cover it up. I did not cut for months untill I frequently started to experience panic attacks which it then became more of a often thing. When I entered 9th grade I has excluslivly cut my arms because that's all I knew. When I saw that people cut thier thighs I became much more frequent at cutting because I didn't have to hid it. I then entered a abusive relationship and it all got worse from there actually having scars on my body now. Right now I am only a couple weeks clean but I'm so proud of myself because it really is hard and I support every one hereand wish them the best of luck on thier recovery.heart

The first time I ever self harmed was when I was 13. My mom and I got into a huge argument- and by argument, I mean she screamed at me while I sobbed. I ran into my room, slamming the door, to which I got screamed at once more, and had an anxiety attack. I'm not very good with yelling or confrontation, as an old step parent of mine who was emotionally abusive towards me- though it was most likely unintentional, as she never wanted kids- would scream at me quite a bit, and even though she left, I still cannot deal with it. After I managed to calm down a bit, still sobbing, I took out an Xacto knife and cut myself- only doing seven lines- before I heard my mom coming up the stairs. I rolled my sleeve back down and tucked the blade away, and as it was my first time and my arms are hyper sensitive, my cuts were not very deep and did not have enough blood to stain the fabric of my hoodie. My mom went back on her punishment, which made me a bit angry, as I have a bit of control issues and have trouble dealing with change I am not in control of, before making me hug her and heading back downstairs. I wore long sleeves despite overheating in a few of my classes until the scars faded enough to go back to tshirts.

The first time I "self harmed" was when I was in grade school maybe 3rd or 4th grade in art class, I saw a cut on the top of my hand and I didn't think it looked right so I made one to match it. Later when I was 12 or 13 my step sister and I were being abused and one night she took meinto our closetand showed me how to cut and said it would help take the pain away.

The first time I ever self harmed I was 11 years old. I don't quite rememeber why I did it, I know that that's when my anxiety and depression started though. My sleeve came up a bit when I was at my mother's friend's house and she (my mother) basically called me crazy.

It was in class.I found school very stressful andI started scratching at the back of my hands till the skin broke and bled. Then I would pick at the scabs. Most of the scars are faded but a couple deeper onces are there.
