First time you ever experimented with self-harm?
when I was 11, and I've been clean for about 6 months now.
@Naytella I am proud of you.
I was 8 the first time I self-harmed, and 28 when I stopped. I was three the first time I tried to off myself. Course, I didn't know how to accomplish it. Took baby aspirin.
When I was 16.
I was different from everyone, I didn't want it to be easy or bloody, I want it to be difficult and that it hurts me really bad. I didn't use sharp objects or razors, I preferred the opposite.
I stopped doing it only because it didn't satisfy me like it used to.
@Aryana23 - Any reason that made you stop is a good reason
Oddly I started when I was 21. That was only about 8 months ago. 22, now. I was blissfully ignorant for many years, and now it has taken over my life.
@TragicallyFearless
Just remember that it's never too late for a change, never :)
I guess it all started at an age that I can't remember, but I recall being happy that I got hit by someone or something because I knew I deserved it. After that, I just balled my fists and hit my arm, or slap my face whenever I felt like I deserve some sort of punishment. I was in grade school but I don't know at what specific age (Tons of things happened at that time so I can't remember). It wasn't consistent (is that the word?). I didn't do it often at that age but I did do it as a form of self-harm as punishment.
I was 15 when I started, and I'm 32 now. I haven't self harmed in about a year, but it's really really difficult not to! Still feels like I last self-harmed only yesterday, so I have a long way to go. It's been a part of my life for over half my life, it's hard to stop.
Thankfully I've only done it once and haven't developed the habit. I cut a few times with scissors, which weren't that sharp, so I guess I can't really say I have experienced it. Especially compared to the tons of other people in this post. I hope you find better ways to cope than hurting yourself, because all of you are amazing people that dont deserve it. I'm here if you need to talk.
@AwkwardAce1563 - I'm SO glad you didn't develop the habit. Please keep staying away from it. It can hook you before you know it.
I first started when I was 13.I used a lair of not so sharp scissors .It felt weird and I didn't even understand its point.Frankly though, it was only a few days before I cut again.Its magic began to kock in after a few times,possibly because I started using sharper objects, knives,razors,broken glass...etc. It's been only 3 and a half months since I first started cutting,but when I look back it feels like forever. I am way too addicted now that I can't go for two days most without it.And my arm is littered with loads of cuts,who only get deeper with time.
@AbigailDouglas394
Three months is a long time, but not long enough for you to not be able to stop. I Hope you realize that soon enough dear. You don't deserve the pain. None of us does.
Started when I was 14 when I moved to my new school... got worse throughout HS and College. Now that I am finishing up my degree and living alone at the age of 21, it's hard not to, but I'm trying to stay clean...
Love y'all! "\ml/"
First term of Year Nine. I'd only been at the school for a term and a half (I had to leave my old school because of bullying). I was super socially isolated, I just didn't fit in with anyone, so I was pretty miserable. Then my school marks started going down, and they were the one thing that normally cheered me up and that I could depend on. So when I screwed up with an assignment and ended up having to get my parents to tell the school I was sick so I could stay home and finish it on the day it was due, I got so frustrated with myself I got a pair of scissors and cut.
