First time you ever experimented with self-harm?
I started when I was 13 or 14 after I moved 8 hours away from my family and friends. I would just burn myself a few times. But then I was molested 2 months after I moved and raped not even a year after I moved ( 8 months after the molestation ) and I've been cutting with blades and glass ever since
i started when i was 13 but i only started using it as a coping method/it became an addiction about 6 months ago. i'm still struggling to quit it but i'm trying and getting better :)
I started SI at 15 yrs old, I am 46 yrs old so 31 years. I usually could go 1 1/2-2 years between cutting, but after starting counseling this past year I have cut 4 times in a year. The last time was 9 days ago.
I started self harming at age 14. until last year, it was a simple scratch. but since 2015 is already too deep, too obvious and too painful.
I think I was 13 when I started. I'll either self-harm for hours on end in one huge go and not touch the blade again for weeks or I'll try and go as long as possible before snapping and ending up doing it every time I crave it. It's like a drug and it drives me insane. Sometimes the scars will be deep, others will be minor scratches. Often, if I can't find my blade or remember that I threw it out in a failed attempt to stop, I'll turn to a panic-induced state. It's horrific. It's hard to explain but I'm sure others out there understand me. I hope they know I understand them too.
I started when i was 11. I had grown very quickly and was very tall and a bit heavier compared to everybody else. I would get teased for it alot but at the time i didnt really care. Then one day someone said something to me about my parents being divorced and that i was the reason for it. I started to believe It was my fualt and hated myself for it. I looked at myself differently and whenever i looked into the mirror i saw a fat, ugly, home wrecking, monster. As school got worse and worse, at home things started changing for the worst. And again i blamed myself for it. I remember seeing somebody cutting themselves in a movie and someone talking about it in a Youtube video. So the next day i took out one of those small crappy, dull, blades from a sharpener and used that. It became an addiction and evolved into burning, cutting, bruising, and peircing my skin over and over again with needles. Ive even attempted suicide twice. I feel hopeless. I feel as if nothing can end the pain i am in. I dont know why people hate me so much. Or what i did. Everyone is turned against me now. Im trying to get help but i am scared. Beating this is very difficult. :/
I started about 4 years ago and I used safty pins, it was a really dark time for me. I nearly dropped out of school the next year as my depression got worse.
Started at the young age of 12,6 years ago,due to had been through a lot of trumatic issues (rape, abuse at home). I used my lighter and a bobby pin to harm. This had continued for another 2 years because things had gotten worse for me then: incidents happened and one thing led to another of misscarry.
To this day I still struggle to fight my urges, but I can proudly say I've been clean for at least maximum 1 year now.
I think when I was 15. I felt so stressed out about my final exams (I wasn't ready yet at that moment) and about my family stress.
At first I just scratch my wrists with mechanic pen. But nowadays I can use scissor, my nails, teeth, and anything sharp near me. Lately I always find it difficult to harm cause I can't always wear long sleeves. I just wish I can be better to cope with it ❤
I started pulling out my hair when I was 11, but I never really thought of that as self harm. The first time I cut was when I was 14. I remember that evening. It was a few days after my parents separated and I just wanted to feel pain. I didn't know what I was doing but I knew that people cut so I tried it. Now I don't cut, but I scratch my skin off really badly.
