Hey this is me.... (possible trigger warning)
Hey, this is me.. some call me soul or twisted, either or is fine. I am of no importance and in all likelihood, in a few minutes I won't even be a fleeting thought in your mind. I spend all my time alone. Well I share my life with 2 dogs. My rescuers. I'm not used to asking for help, I'm not used to having anyplace to turn to . I have social anxiety, so this feels twice as hard as it should. I found an bottle of Wild Turkey in a cupboard this weekend ,so, I had a few swallows of liquid courage. Hey, it's 5 o'clock somewhere right? Yeah I know it's not helping my state of mind. Especially since I'm depressed. Lay on the floor, stare at the ceiling for hours depression. Same song on repeat. Rest stop by Matchbox 20. Not sure why I settled on that one. I think it's the lyric's.. Are you listening, can you hear me.. Have you forgotten.
Today make's it 11 days since I last self harmed. It's there though, in the front of my mind. I'm trying to fight it. I can see it in my mind. I do not want to do this. I don't. But it there, you know. It's always there..waiting, lurking, stalking. I catch myself staring at my hands, they aren't my hands. I mean they are but they seem to have a mind of their own. They are not my friends today. They want to reach for the sharpest tool I own and just cut. Tip to tip.
In the fleeting moment that I might cross your mind, Maybe just send a happy thought my way.

I'm angry - I really am - it's depressing
This whole thing is shit - the choices shit
Why even bother?
It's a means to an end right?
Stupid little shit - thanks for that btw - it's awesome having that run through my fucking head all day
Please don't - ok - thank you but no
I'm just venting. - sorry

so true!!!
Somewhere along the way the mission of this place got aborted or lost. When I typed in 7cups mission into my wonderful Google friend - it gave me this
Our Mission:
7 Cups of Tea is for anyone who wants to live in a world where the human experience is free from stigma and stereotypes and rich with love and support. A world where all 7 billion of us can grow and feel like we truly belong. We believe that each one of us is inherently valuable.

7 Cups Mission Statement! | 7 Cups Wiki
In light of recent events - we do not feel free from stigma or stereotypes or that we truly belong or even valuable. It feels alittle like we're all here on borrowed time doesn't it?
@mytwistedsoul
I am really hoping that the higher ups are working on an apology post and a way to communicate with systems and staff members of the community about an inclusive safety protocol. If they are, they really need to tell us that they are, because right now it looks like they are doing nothing. Personally I don't think their intention was to be harmful towards systems (I really really HOPE that wasn't their intention) but it doesn't matter if that was their intention-- it was still discriminatory and they need to apologize. If they aren't working on fixing this issue... we have to fight harder. And I suspect may of us will leave the site because of it. I'm really hoping it doesn't come to that but you're right, this is not in the spirit of their mission statement.
I'm standing with you on this one-- other people are too. You aren't alone-- we're working to fix this
@ThePizza I've thought the same thing - that it amazes me that noone was said anything. Something - ya know? Instead of just silence
I must ask you M - I can't speak to the teen listeners involved in this privately - so if you could pass this along I would appreciate it. Please - please - please - tread carefully. I have seen people get booted for causing a disturbance or if they disagree with them. They are the gods here and we are the lowly ants. And I would hate to see anyone get kicked out - even if it's for a good cause. Ok? Just please be careful
@mytwistedsoul
I passed on the message to a teen listener involved-- we'll do our best to be careful. Honestly I don't see how they could kick us out if we continued to be respectful and assertive about it, but you have more experience than me with what the higher ups will do. I wasn't aware of this before but the listener I talked to told me that there have been issues between 7cups and the DID community that they have been fighting for the past six months. So it sounds as though this has been an ongoing issue (I mean there's a good chance you already knew that though).
I'll be careful
@ThePizza Tbh - I didn't know that. I only started getting alittle more involved with that community in the past two or three months. It's disappointing to hear. I allways manage to get involved too late lol. Usually after things start to fall apart. I - well - we appreciate what you're trying to do though M. It means alot to see you make a stand about something you feel isn't right. I - well - you're super smart and you have really good intuition so - I mean I don't want to sound all big brother on you lol. I know you'll be careful - its just a gentle reminder I guess - yeah?
Ok lol - shutting up now
@mytwistedsoul
Gentle reminders are welcome :) no worries lol. I know sometimes it feels better to say it out loud anyway
@mytwistedsoul
Um also I know I sometimes dont reply to compliments or your thanks— its not that I dont appreciate it I just dont know what to say without feeling awkward lol. I am happy to stand with all of you on this one— and thank you for your words. They mean a lot to me too, in a good way
@mytwistedsoul I agree with being careful. I am currently framing things in positive ways only while waiting on some clarification on policies.
@AffyAvo It's hard to constantly have to keep things positive. I appreciate you adding credence to these concerns. I've seen many of your posts and in all honesty, I value your opinion greatly.
I seriously don't see that an apology is coming any time in the near future. It seems as though the brunt of the original post has been discreetly swept under the rug. The ending of the latest post left me with the impression they have nothing more to say about it and I think anything further would only give them an excuse to kick someone out.
@mytwistedsoul
Thanks
I think 7 Cups can improve, and taking feedback from users helps with that.
I appreciate so many of your posts, I upvote more than I reply, I learn a lot from you.
@mytwistedsoul
wait. What happened? What am I missing?
@BraveAdventurer Which the new post or updated one is much shorter and the wording is different. In the orginal post they made it sound as though we were to stay in our designated area and not venture anywhere else. That if you enter a chat room and they feel you're dissociating or if someone younger is fronting they are to offer you one on one chats or point you towards the right area for "us" kind of people - I wish I had thought to make a copy of the original post
We called them the Old Guard. It was never meant in any bad way. A sign of respect. The Guardians of the Watchtowers of Castle Cups. The older members. Some of which have been here almost from it's conception. Many have left and many more continue to leave. It's normal to grow as people. To evolve into better versions of human beings. So it's only natural that people should move on and beyond this place. But, what of the people who leave because they feel unheard or unsupported. Unwanted. It's disappointing to know that there are people who came here wanting acceptance and support and after trying so hard for so long, ended up having to leave because staying was doing more harm to them then good. It's disappointing, that people ask questions and get no answers. It's disappointing to see people voice their concerns, only to have them ignored. It's disappointing the amount of focus that is put on the quality of chatrooms when the trolls and bullies can't be kept out and that they return again and again, which ironically enough, affects the quality of the whole site. It's disappointing that as a member or even a listener, that we need to be so careful of any criticism for fear of any repercussions. I would think the unfavorable one's would be the one's to focus on to grow as a community. Which, in my opinion is slowly losing it's community feel. To worry all the time about saying the wrong thing because of getting points towards you. To worry about being yourself. To worry about speaking your opinions. To worry about attracting the wrong kind of attention. There just seems to be something wrong with all that, but these are just my thoughts and opinions and as this is a personal space I should be allowed to share them here. I've seen worse shared in personal spaces.
@mytwistedsoul
@AffyAvo I saw your thread got deleted and you've been quiet. I just wanted to check in - let you know you've been in my thoughts
@mytwistedsoul I'm ok, thanks for asking.
I'm annoyed about some things, I'm upset about some others. There's also just dealing with the symptoms that flare up, although no emergencies at least.
I've wanted to write - but couldn't make the words work. To say them out loud makes them true. The truth hurts. It hurts to think about. Sick to my stomach all the time. Crushing depression - panic inducing anxiety. Had pretty many panic attacks the past few days. I think I have it held together only to fall apart again. The words replay and then the damn d word - you have to be afraid to say anything. I should've did something sooner. Did - done? Need to sleep - what needs to be done invades - everything and Idk if I can. There's no choice - so unfair
I'm sorry there's nothing I can do. These words came over the phone. Most things here are curbside yet. No amount of begging or pleading or threats changed their minds. She has cancer - the cough is because it's in her throat now. Metastatic cancer. They can't even give a time line - other then no more then a month - mostly likely a week or two. She's still eating and drinking and the past couple of days has been like a party for both dogs. They've had steak and bacon and hot dogs made at the fire pit. We've laid in the grass in the sun. We've studied her paws - amazed at the size of them. The pattern on her nose - did you know they're like fingerprints? We've watched her sleep - watched her dream and watching to make sure she isn't struggling to breath. We've brushed her - told her how much she's loved and how beautiful she is. and cried - crying now. Get it under control and a thought comes through and it starts all over again and i think - I can't do this. I have no choice but - let me keep it together

@mytwistedsoul
I am so sorry J. She truly is beautiful. I am sure she couldn't have had a better and more caring friend than you. I am sure there hasn't been a day when she didn't feel loved by you
@mytwistedsoul *offering safe hugs*
This sounds extremely tough to go through. Just take it one step at a time and remeber that you are not alone in this here. It is okay to cry and whatever emotions you are experiencing is valid. No matter how long it may take, just take your time
@mytwistedsoul
J I'm so sorry. I know you guys really care about her and I'm so sorry that you and her have to go through this. I know you take amazing care of her and she's had a happy life. Sitting with you :(
@mytwistedsoul I am so sorry. She looks like the sweetest girl and you have such warmth towards her. She would be blessed to have you as her companion and will always have a special place in thoughts and heart. 💟
@admaiorasemper @redmark @NoneTheWiser @ThePizza @hillsideblues
Thank you - each and everyone of you for your kind words - for the safe hugs and sitting with me - I do really appreciate it. Especially since I know you're all dealing with your own things. I feel bad not being able to return the favor right now. It helps in someways to know that you're all here - that I can come here and share - I wish I was able to share better news than what I did. I'd be lying if I said I was ok - I'm trying to be but it's just not working. It's only a matter of days - until I have to say goodbye. Im trying to find comfort in knowing that she knows she is so loved - that she's a good girl. It's hard -
Thank you again - for putting up with me lol - I really appreciate you all
@mytwistedsoul
It is so kind of you to give her some extra special days. Its okay to not be okay— this is so so hard and you wont be okay for some time. Always happy to be here, J. 💙
Hmmm... Dictatorship comes to mind doesn't it? Maybe utopian is better. I hate to say it but as I slowly watch people here disappear, the lights in the watchtower flicker and fade, I realize that our time here is probably growing shorter. There is almost a cult type feel at times. Either be one of them or you'll be evicted. The rules they want to implement, I really don't see that they'll work. Simply because for the most part people are supportive of others on threads already. There are the occasional times when a language barrier might come into play and of course the trolls. Which in all honesty, I seriously doubt that they're going to be worried about points.
I understand that they're trying to make this a more user friendly place but turning it into a dictatorship isn't the way to go. They have taken away the one thing we were able to control ourselves, the feed. In its place, we have received rules and regulations and discrimination. We're being told what to say and how to say it. Positive feedback is wonderful, but doesn't anyone want to know what's wrong? Problems don't go away just because you ignore them or hide it beneath a pile of badges. They discriminate against one group and in the spirit of inclusivity, add everyone with dissociation issues. They never apologize but say there's transparency. Now with this latest one, how to reply. It says to offer solutions. Aren't solutions the same as offering advice? I thought that was a no no? They can't deal with one troll but they can scan hundreds of posts that are unsupportive or not positive? I thought that's what flagging was for? To make matters worse, you're not even allowed to disagree. Well, perhaps you can as long as it's in proper format. Do they realize what this will do to people with anxiety? What about the people with OCD or the people who struggle with perfectionism? Now it has to be even more perfect. When people get a bad reply they see the person who made the reply, not this place. It should have no impact at all on the community. It used to feel friendlier here. Now, there's so much you have to worry about just by posting something. Seems counterproductive to me. Of course these are just my thoughts and in no way a reflection of the sterling reputation of any one set place. I'm sure this will get deleted and points will be assigned, simply for voicing my own opinion, in what is supposedly a safe space.

@mytwistedsoul
I tottally agree. I come here because I don't have any answers. My life and my head is a mess and I can't figure out how to fix it. What's the point in sharing if you know beginning and end how to deal with it? Sorry if this deosn't make sense, words aren't my strongsuit.
@Helpme10 Hi :) I think your words are fine. Have you given any thought to perhaps starting a thread? You could do one in a diary section. If you leave it open to replies, people will stop in. There may not be many answers or solutions but I've found that it's nice to just have some place to write things out and have a place to connect with other people.
@mytwistedsoul
I didn't know that was an option, thank you. I think I might do that.
@mytwistedsoul
With this and the previous protocol situation it seems as though theyre giving new rules and regulations for issues that already have solutions— flagging posts, or muting someone in a chat room. Im not sure if this is because theyve found that flagging and muting are ineffective, but to me at least it didnt seem as though they had been. Its very sad to see a safe space turn into a place where you need to walk on eggshells. Youre not the only one Logan— Im frustrated too. And Im sure there are many others.
@ThePizza It seems to me that these have worked for years, until now. I have wondered, in all honesty, if this is simply a way for them to weed out certain "types" of people. The people who question things. The wave makers and boat rockers. They seem to want to surround themselves with people who sing the praises of everything. Yes people so to speak. But if you never say no, how much is your yes worth? It's disappointing to see people slowly being silenced, either because they feel they have to or they'll be kicked out or the people how are just tired of constantly fighting and getting no where. These longer term members, who are in the trenches every day and see what people need and/or want. We shouldn't be afraid to speak our minds. It really takes away from the supportive aspect of this.
