Creative Survey About 7 Cups!! Come one, come all and submit your replies!
Imagine your dream world. What would make you rate your experience on 7 Cups 12 out of 5 stars?? Don't worry about the experience being impossible or possible. Just imagine.
For example, if you were to rate a restaurant out of 5 -
1 star means the food was stale, took forever to arrive, the server screamed at you, there was an insect in your food, they miscalculated the bill and forced you to pay it.
12 stars means the restaurant sent out a limo to pick you up and then drop you off, the owner was at the door waiting for you with a celebrity chef, they gave you a personal tour of the kitchen and created custom dishes for you, also gave a 50% discount on dining and complimentary wine and desserts.
Help us improve support quality. Give your imagination some wings and let it fly!!!
PS - We will post some of the most creative replies to this thread! So have fun!
This survey brought to you by @Twish
nothing you could do could ever make this god forsaken site be rated 12. it will be a 2 forever! and that's me beign highly generous because of the 1 out of every 80 listeners i get being at least acceptably decent people
@Tyler5641
Have you tried other things on the site besides just talking to listeners?
@warmheartedCity8277 just stop
@Tyler5641
i completely agree with everything you are saying, like the first thing the listeners say is "how can I help", I don't know and if I did I would do it myself
@isaysorryalot they expect me to be social savant and always know what,to say, maybe if i was i wouldnt ******* be here
(edited by @RaCat because of the inappropriate word)
@Tyler5641 yes and when I go on here when my anxiety is really bad and they ask what I'm scared of and when I tell them that I don't know they get mad.
@isaysorryalot just like irl, only neurotypicals have any success
@Tyler5641 I have used this site as both a member and listener since 2015. I also am not neurotypical- I have ASD, anxiety, OCD, depression, social anxiety etc. and I know for sure there are people here who can help anyone. It's so unfair to say rude things about this place since for some people it has been a massive building block in their lives. This is where I've got help, where people have prevented me from going down deep dark paths, where I have helped people overcome rape, abuse, severe mental health issues, even helped a few suicidal people to realise life is worth living. I understand some listeners can suck, I get that. But if you really want help, you'd take the time to search for someone who could work with you and help you the best they can.
@Lucy ibe been here for a year and searching almost every day
@Tyler5641
Oh I am so sorry to hear that. I genuinely feel bad for not being kinder to some people who are socially awkward.
@Tyler5641
Some people like it ok?!? Jeez. If you have issues they help you!!!!
@ScarsAndMoons bull *****!
(edited by @RaCat because of the inappropriate word)
@Tyler5641 "it will be a 2 forever"? Really now, are you trying to issue a constructive feedback, or just criticizing the whole thing? Your reply says there is no chance of improvement, but excuse me to say there always is; it all goes back to what part you choose to take in it, in order to make it happen.
@Laura
I was going to fill out this survey, but it is extremely difficult to concentrate sometimes. So, with the little bit of concentration I can muster, I'll just type out some suggestions to improve this site... Please bare in mind that this may come off as a little rushed and maybe even rude, but it took FOREVER to type this, and I did the best I could. (It still isn't good enough, I know.)
1) I would really like it if there was more support for various personality disorders, or just more support in general. I'm sure this might be in the making already (or maybe not), but it'd be nice if more SUBcommunities can be made from existing communities. It would also be nice if anyone can tackle the challenge of hosting group discussions on Schizoid, Antisocial, OCD, and other personality disorders (for TEENS). I never participate in group discussions, because they're difficult to plan for and most of them are uninteresting, but I definitely would if the discussions were of heavy or complicated topics. Actually... I went out of my way to create an adult account, JUST so that I could look at what their group discussions are like. They have a lot more discussions than teens do. I don't use my adult account, but it's really tempting sometimes, and it would be even more tempting if the discussions pertained to things that I wish to understand better or that I may be dealing with. To avoid breaking the rules on this site, I would prefer it if more discussions were available to teenagers in general.
2) When you click "Join a discussion," then "Community Calendar," I would really love it if it actually redirected to the community calendar! I don't like how it goes to the home page for the subcommunities. It's one additional step to reach the calendar, and it isn't too bothersome, but it was annoying when this first started happening. I would like to just go straight to the calendar to figure out when the next interesting discussion will take place.
3) If a discussion is cancelled, or the leader is unable to follow through on a planned group discussion for any reason, could a heads up for it be listed in the calendar? Or can the leader make a quick note after the planned discussion to explain why it didn't occur? Sometimes I go out of my way to plan my schedule around a particular group discussion that I REALLY want to participate in, but, when I do this and log on when the discussion is said to be taking place, there's nothing there. Since I am in the Pacific time zone, I have to subtract 3 hours from whatever time is listed. That makes it really inconveinant to plan for group discussions. If I set an alarm to wake up at 6:00 AM to join a 9 AM ET (adult) discussion about self-harm, I expect a discussion to be there. Often times, it's not, so I no longer bother planning for it. It's disappointing when I log on to find that no discussion is listed in the "Join a discussion" tab. I sometimes assume that there may be a glitch preventing me from seeing a particular discussion, but I really won't know if that's true or not unless a note is added in regards to it. Something along the lines of "Cancelled," or "Completed!" By marking that the discussion is completed, I'll know whether or not it's a glitch, which can then be reported.
Sorry for the long paragraph, but does that make sense?
4) It'd be great if the community calendar had a search feature. If someone is looking for discussions about "Depression," "Healthy Living," or anything at all, then they can type that in and see a list of all the planned discussions for those topics. That way, you don't have to scroll through a long list to find the ones that you like.
5) I've said nothing about the quality of listeners or member interaction... I no longer use this site to connect with listeners or participate in the chatrooms, because my overall experience of it was terrible. It was honestly so disappointing and upsetting. I won't go into detail about why, specifically, but I can list a few things: Ineffective listener training (some listeners REFUSE to follow the basic guides to help them become better listeners), quiet chatrooms or irrelevant discussions (it's always one or the other - nobody uses the room for what it's for, so everyone ends up leaving to make better use of their time), etc...
The LISTENER thing is a big deal, for many reasons. There are listeners who abruptly leave in the middle of a conversation, listeners with a poor "intro" message (or none at all, leaving it up to the distressed member to make the first move), rude and unsupportive listeners, and more. Overall, most of the listeners that I connect with caused me to feel worse than I already did, especially when they stop responding without another word or when they simply don't know what they're doing.
This isn't just a complaint. The point is, if you're really looking for ways to improve this website, you can offer up more training for listeners. I did used to have a listener account once, and I read through many of the training guides just for the heck of it. I found those to be repetitive, and I reached a point when there was nothing new to learn from them. You get a little badge for each guide you complete, but not a whole lot of knowledge. So, maybe there's a chance that professionals can chip in and create some new training guides? That would be awesome. Also, you can encourage listners (even those with lots of experience) to go back and read more guides. Sometimes even listeners with high chat ratings can forget things that may be helpful to know. It doesn't hurt to refresh your memory sometimes. ALSO, people can emphasize the importance of completing training guides, or make it mandatory to take additional tests if that isn't enough. I don't know. Anything. I just hate to see the quality of listeners continue to decline.
Alright... My eyes are burning and it's late, but thank you for listening to what I have to say. Hopefully it makes some sense and that I don't come off as being rude. I really just want to help. If this is the only way I can explain what I dislike about this site, then so be it. I tried. Goodnight (or good morning). :)
By the way... I'm sorry. I know the purpose of this thread was just to advertise a survey and get people to participate in that. However, since you are looking for ways to improve the site, I thought I'd take the time to provide a few. I'm sure there are more relevant threads for that, but oh well. I didn't feel like searching for them.
@BrokenShadow
Wow these are great suggestions! You can put them in this suggestion box, here
@BurningEmber Thank you for the link. I'll fill that out at a later time.
@BrokenShadow
you are welcome!
@BrokenShadow I'm actually the leader of the OCD/BFRB section here- we're looking at getting a subcommunity soon, but need about 15 more people to register interest (you can do that here). If you could share this, it'd be very helpful!
I should be starting to host discussions again on OCD etc in the coming weeks, most likely on a sunday at 2pm EDT- I have taken a break for my exams, so should be returning soon.
@Lucy I sent in a form. :) I didn't know that was something people did.
@BrokenShadow
hi thanks for writing all this down! I just wanted to say that i totally agree with your 2. point. I really love the discussions here, but i would like to have the comunity calender more organized, maybe an option to filter out unimportant information (like for teens all the informations about adult discussions are unimportant) would be helpfull. Also if i open the community calender it shows all discussion from the begin of the month and it takes soooo long to scroll down and find the right day, so maybe deleting informations about events that are already over would be good. One more thing is that (me being really bad in math and geography) i often have trouble with the different time zones. I dont know how to solve that problem but yeah. Thanks and have a nice day
@theonenewgirl Those are good sugestions too. As far as the time zones go, you can find that information online. Maybe do a Google search such as, "What time is it in the Eastern time zone?" It will show you exactly what time it is. You can then figure out how many hours apart you are, based on what time it currently is in your location, and keep that number in your head. For example, I know that people in the Eastern part of the US are three hours ahead of me, so I always subtract three hours from the time listed in the community calendar to figure out when I should log on for a discussion. It's useful to know sometimes. :)
@BrokenShadow
yes thanks google is my best friend
i guess i am not very intelligent because i am still confused by time zones but it was just a suggestion because i have no idea how to make it easier (for idiots like me) either.
@theonenewgirl Oh shush. I'm sure you aren't an idiot. Everyone learns at different speeds. :) Time zones are tricky.
@BrokenShadow
eh im not sure... but anyways have a nice day!
When I get a notification about a post, it will take me to the thread, but not the actual post. Sometimes it's hard to find the post when a few days have gone by or there are a lot of comments on the thread. I would like an easier way to find posts in the notifications. Other than that, the site has been super helpful! ![]()
@Laura
I would love to see a change in the general requests. I think choosing a topic (eg. depression, anxiety, family issues, etc.) should be mandatory and members/guests should be able to choose multiple topics. We can also expand the list and give the option for members to write in their own.
I believe this would help in three major ways:
1. It would connect the GC members and guests connect with the best listener possible.
2. It would help listeners (especially new listeners) go into the chat feeling better prepared and more confident.
3. It would cut down the number of referrals, which can feel hurtful for the member and stressful for the listener.
I also understand that it is suggested that we take requests based on wait time and I belive that this system will not impead listeners who truly have no preference. Listeners who don't have any triggering topics will still be able to pick from the top but will have some idea of the member.
@RainbowTrie
May I add to this? I think it would beneficial if users can choose their topic before they are seen in the "General Requests" section. With so many topics to choose from, it may take a moment for someone to decide which topic suits their situation the most. Often times, more than one topic is applicable, so it isn't always easy to quickly choose one over another (I agree, the ability to select multiple topics would be helpful). If a person hesitates to click on one of the many topics, then a listener might choose their request too soon. There were times when my request was accepted within a few seconds, and I ended up with listeners who were unable to provide support for my (unlisted) topic. ...yad-a-yah-a... ANYWAY, when I person clicks "Connect now," they should be given a moment to choose their topic(s) before they appear on the list for general requests.
I agree with what you said. It should be mandatory to choose a topic. In order to make that possible, though, perhaps topics should be chosen before the request is sent. That would be quite useful.
@RainbowTrie
Hey there, I think that these are great suggestions! You should put them in the listener suggestion box to make sure that they can potentially be implemented. Here is the suggestion box
When someone votes up my post or replies and I get an alert about that I'd like the alert to take me directly to my post so I can see how many up votes or read the comments.
Next, I'd like to make a chat appointment with a listener that I liked and that helped me. The process for finding a good listener is cumbersome and 75% of the time they are not on line, don't reply when you need them or their feedback is not helpful. If I find one I like and I rate them I should be rewarded with being able to schedule another chat.
The meditations don't work well on my iPhone. You really should play around with that feature. It's not user friendly.
Last, thanks for what you are trying to do here. I appreciate it and think this harsh world needs a place to be heard and supported!
@BeReal
Hey these are great suggestions, you should put them in the member suggestion box if you haven't done that already so that they have a bigger chance of being implemented.. you can find that here
Also you can schedule chats with listeners you have spoken to before, that is something you can ask that listener and work out with them. Not every listener is able to know their schedule and schedule chats though. But under My Progress which is on the Path tab, you can see a list of all the listeners you have connected to and send them a message. You can find that place for your convenience here
Hi, I just wanted to clarify. What I've discovered is that on my smartphone, the seven cups app does not have as much functionality as the website does. So I cannot post to my own thread in response to the hashtag prompts using my smartphone and the app. The website seems to work just fine. It may just be some Android phones that aren't working with the app, but I really thought somebody should know.
Thank you!
