Emoji in messages
In an unannounced (as far as I know) change, 7 Cups has removed emoticons from messages and replaced them with emoji.
For example, if you typed :) in a message, 7 Cups previously converted it to an image that looks exactly the same on all devices:
Now, 7 Cups converts :) to an emoji character that looks different depending on what device you're using and how it's set up: 😊 There's no way for you to tell what anyone reading your message will see, or whether they'll see anything meaningful at all.
I've updated my list of 7 Cups' 14 supported emoji: Type smileys in chats
I haven't yet updated Add a smiley menu to chats. I hope to be able to do that at the weekend.

Thank you thank you thank you
@RarelyCharlie
Thank you! I thought I was going crazy! I checked my browser, I wondered if it was windows, I didn't know what was going on. I really don't like how these are display *at all*. RarelyCharlie thank you for all you are doing for us! I am grateful and I am sorry your efforts are not more integrated into the site. You are valuable to us here.
To site people reading along:
My concern is that due to the discrepencies we won't be able to pictorally communicate as well with each other b/c we will all be seeing different things! Plus the emojis might be off-putting, causing inherent or unintended stress in chats. I already see people putting a space between them to prevent this behavior, such as : ) so I know I'm not alone her. My suggestions are to revert to a standard for 7cups sitewide and/or have an options in Settings to default to device emojis or site emojis. This gives people the option. It doesn't address the discrepencies concern but seems like a fair compromise.
Thanks, I knew they looked different but I didn't realize all the connections to the change, good to know what I see itsn't what others may be seeing!
@RarelyCharlie I updated Add a smiley menu to chats today.
