Transparency on 7Cups

Today I'd like to take a moment to discuss something and share my thoughts on a few matters. Recently, there was a thread that labled something on 7Cups as "Obnoxious". This was a respectful thread expressing a user's particular view on something. The thread title was changed back to it's original state and then "Obnoxious" was removed once again. While some may have different view points on what happened here, I'd like to discuss the important matter of this, transparency.
While the thread's author was notified - no message was left on the thread indicating what happened which lead to the author making a post saying what happened. Think about it this way: If I warn someone in a Group Support chat and they are asking if I warned them, I will say yes because I will be able to justify my reasons. This has happened on more than one thread and it's actually a disappointing thing to see.

I noticed in my 3 years here as a member, as time has gone by, the way we handles things has matured, and should remain mature and constructive. "Obnoxious button" is in no way really constructive, it's just expressing that you think it's "obnoxious". However, making a mature title and explaining in detailed constructive way how you feel about something and an idea on how to fix something is the way to go. That is what I noticed they like to see in the forums here on 7 Cups. I'm sure they get that we have opinions and feelings about certain things and that is okay! But as you mentioned in the thread, the creator of the thread was notified as to why it was changed, and that is all who really needed to know.
No offense, but this post is really just an invitation to opening a can of worms on a very small matter on a title of a forum post. I get your intentions are probably good, but I am sure there are forum posts that give transparency and consistency on how a forum post could be best made with constructive feedback. I hope you don't take me as attacking your or being rude, just adding my thoughts like everyone else does. Some things may need more transparency, I can agree with that. Hope your week is going well.

Sorry.... but I can't agree. Censorship has gotten out of hand in the Forum. Example: Recently a new Rule was imposed to not allow criticism of the Paid Therapy Service. Not Liking the content of a Thread, is NOT a justifiable reason to edit or delete it
As for the word 'Abnoxious' it's not a swear word. It's a valid word and (apparently) expressed how the person felt. Ppl are entitled to their own thoughts and opinions. We shouldn't have to sugar coat things to avoid being edited

Well, all things therapy is meant for emails as it's more professional and easier to handle things related to therapy that way. It was even written in a forum post about this. I'm sorry you feel like the site is censoring us too much, but I do not agree with that happening. We have the same cenors as we always had that are meant to keep the forums safe, supportive, and respect confidentiality.

i cant even find that thread anymore.. trying to find a thread or a post is sorta like finding a needle in a haystack at times here.
or maybe i'm inept. something is making this less "user friendly." could be my less than stellar computer skills but seems its a bit more.

I think the point of this post is that this particular incident is an obvious example of transparency issues on the site.
The fact that is a very small matter is in part what concerns me so much about it.
Some things may need more transparency, I can agree with that. Hope your week is going well.

I feel really disturbed by this particular instance with the title changes. It's indicative that other things may have happened.
I think it is invalidating. It also wouldn't have seemed as manipulative if they had posted why in the thread right away.
There is a lot of subtle irony taking place in just this one instance. It doesn't feel good on a support forum.
The threat that the thread poster privately accept their censorship or lose their thread makes me feel worse.
I mean this respectfully: can we have a 7cups-approved dictionary link that we can all reference, and a very specific list of banned adjectivess, so we can be on the same page? Our very perceptions of words are different. For instance, that specific title was allegedly edited because it was not constructive. One could discuss that changing the title wasn't constructive because it derailed the thread and caused mixed feelings in members, or that any of our feelings on the matter aren't constructive because we aren't sharing them through the right venue, or any manner of manipulative language to shape the outcome they desire.
I just don't feel well about things like that going on either, and appreciate you posting about it too.
