Forum Restructuring Update (April 2023)

I hope this post finds you well. There are some updates that I would like to share regarding the forum restructuring.

1. All topic suggestions that were shared by community leaders have been completed and have been passed on to the tech team for reviewal. Once the review is done, we will begin working community by community to implement the suggested changes so it is a gradual change and not done all at once. Communities with less than 10 topics/subforums will be done first as it will take a shorter time to complete. After which, communities will 10+ topics/subforums will be worked on.

• There will be new communities that will be coming out of current communities and an update will be given as to which ones are for the site as we get to them on the list.

2. Pinned threads: The appearance of pinned threads has now changed. These threads are now collapsed, so it helps users to find new threads easily and it does not take up too much space on the community homepage. The thread titles can only be seen so if a user wishes to view the post in its entirety, they would have to click on the thread title to read the post.

• We are asking community leaders to do a second review of their pinned threads to see if there are any outdated threads that can be unpinned. It is suggested that any pinned threads that are not recent, not from 2022 and back or duplicated (with the exception of tag lists if they are constantly being joined by community members and community-specific resources) elsewhere in the community be unpinned as such posts hinder the community’s engagement stats.
