Member connections(?)
So as we all know 7cups does not allow any off site contact. However I've met a couple of users who aren't Listeners and because of that rule there was no way for us to stay in contact. I'm sure I'm not the only one...
I guess my suggestion is a message system for members to use to write each other, just like there is for conversations between Members and Listeners. I know it might not be easy to actually do that, but if it's possible, maybe it would be a goal for the future.
7 Cups does allow offsite contact. Otherwise if members of a family join 7 Cups the family would have to split up. That would be absurd. What 7 Cups does not allow is sharing contact information on 7 Cups.
If the rule against sharing contact information on 7 Cups is a problem for you, 7 Cups provides two solutions. One solution is for one or more of you to become listeners. It is very easy to do. There is no rule that prevents listeners from chatting with friends.
The other solution is to use a forum thread to stay in touch. Even though the forums are public and anyone can read them, some people do use them to stay in touch with friends.
A message system for members would make staying in touch with friends easier, it's true. However, it has been suggested before and there is no sign that it will ever happen.

@RarelyCharlie What would becoming a Listener entail? What are the responsibilities and requirements for a listener? Are there any restrictions or set rules as to what a listener can do? Depending on how open it is maybe I could become one. Can listeners chat with other listeners?
You might not have all the answers, but maybe you know where I could find the answers and details I'm looking for.
You have to complete the online training. For an experienced member like you I think it will be easy. After that there are no responsibilities or requirements, except to abide by the rules. You do not have to meet targets or chat with strangers, but you can if you like. Listeners can chat with other listeners, and we often do. You can also keep your member account. In fact, listeners are encouraged to keep a separate member account.
@sensitiveSugar8860
@RarelyCharlie Oh wow, I might just do that. Maybe I could even help someone like myself...
Thanks alot!

People post this every once in a while and I keep saying the same thing...if you let members chat privately, then that opens up the doors for all those trolls to go harassing people in the worst possible ways, completely unmoderated. And sure, some listeners have kinda preyed on members before, but I have seen the kind of things members are capable of...
@Phthalo Well obviously a block function were needed and in order to minimize troll-damage, so to speak, a system would have to be in place where people can only chat with each other if they truly wish to. Maybe a sort of request-based thing. Of course wherever there's a combination of internet and contact there are trolls. But we shouldn't let the fear of them rule over what we allow ourselves to do.
@sensitiveSugar8860 Except that the damage will have already been done and that no one will be there to tell the person, "hey, that troll was wrong." A lot of people who come here are not emotionally strong enough to just block and move on and if there's a bunch of things happening in private on here and no one can do anything about it...
I mean considering the way pretty much only one chatroom is ever active anymore, if two members want to chat they can just use one of the empty rooms.
Idk either way it's up to the admin and I don't think they would make that sort of change.
@Phthalo I wasn't aware of the chatroom situation. Why is that? I'd think all the rooms would be full with people.
@sensitiveSugar8860 It used to be more active several months ago. I don't know where everyone went...
I would love it if that were possible to do but can members at least delegation a post after they send it so that they can share a, say phone number, and not fear that some random person now has it
