February 23: Mod Names Being Added To Warnings

In January @Heather announced this update in this thread.
We are please to say this will go live this morning. Every warning sent in group support will now be sent along with the name of the moderator who sent it. Please check out @Heather's post to learn more about the reasons behind why we are making this change!

This is a good thing to combat Mod hate, and is similar to the forum rule where Forum Mentors and Teen Stars have to add their name to the bottom if a post is edited and PM the person.
However, will this discourage some Mods from warning some becaues they fear their reputation may be ruined if they have to Mod others? Overall though I agree with this feature! Thanks!

I deleted your post because mass tagging on a post that already had an alert was unnecessary and could potentially be spammy. I'm really glad to see your enthusiasm though! Maybe you could share a link to this forum in your feed so as to be more effective?

As somebody that moderates semi-frequently, I've been quietly questioning why this addition wasn't part of the original system when it was first invented! Many times, I as a moderator was given the heat for a warning I never given out, and I agree with the members that warning when lurking is completely unacceptable, and quite frankly rude.
I am SO happy that now, it's a thing, however I do worry at possible backslash upon some moderators, as every moderator should, because being a moderator is not that easy as it seems ;). But I believe that the positives greatly outnumber the negatives here, and with all that said, I'm looking forward to seeing how it all pans out, because honestly this is one of my favourite updates to the site, and there have been MANY past these months!

All i can say is... FINALLY!!
That means if i give warning to the troll if they break the rules , now they can know my name and this will leads to that they(troll) can abuse / harass me in PM personally , Wow ?

If someone is abusing you or harassing you in PMs, you can easily block them for such things after warning them not to. If they do so in the gorup chats, obviously handle it as you would if they were harassing anyone else.
@Diandra okay but let me tell you that i am suffereing from this abusement from the 1 year and i bloked them , they come up again with multiple accounts and i also reported to community , community is taking steps against them but you know they are making multiple accounts by giving fake email- ids thats so easy for them to making account with fake mail ids .. so im not gonna block them in PM because if i block them they abuse me more and more with different account .

Lots of moderators face this same problem, I can see where you're coming from. I've faced this problem personally as well. I've found it's best to get in contact with a mentor and give them the usernames you have for this person. With the new unblocking feature, you can see who you've blocked (but you don't have to unblock them, by all means keep them blocked as to avoid contact with them.)

i think there is a way to not get their messages until and unless you accept their request.
Whilst I can see the benefits to this update, I also envision many negative consequences.
Unfortunately there have been incidents in the past where a lot of personal abuse has come against me for trying to enforce rules politely. Having this attached just empowers that position of hate and abuse and from my previous experience, this is not monitored or handled well enough to roll out something like this.
Will this be monitored? And if so, I would like to know how. I would love to believe this will do some good but I think it's trading off general hate to focused hate on the most active and rule abiding moderators. It's singling them out further for what they do, where as another moderator might let it go. There isn't enough active moderators to allow that kind of position to occur as it is.
It's great to have more transparency amongst moderators and members/guests, but at the same time, the same transparency needs to be applied between community leaders and moderators, which, from my experiences, really isn't the case.

I like this because sometimes i've seen where members get warned and nobody knew who warned them so they can't pm anyone to talk about it
Whilst I am grateful for the transparency by adding this feature, I am rather concerned about some comments under this thread. Suggesting mod 'hate' is absolutely wrong trivialises some people's experiences on this site and though I'm glad to say that this has improved mostly and there have been lots of awful trolls that just spam mod hate for the sake of it generalising either side is worrying. I am hopeful however that this will lessen the role stereotypes and help both account types empathise with each other better.
