July 14: How do you use hearts?
As we plan the Follow feature we?ve been discussing the goal of supporting and encouraging each other as we take steps on the path and when we post inspiring content.
At 7 Cups there is already the hearticon, designed to give you a way to reward other people for showing compassion.
So, if you wrote a very compassionate post to your feed and I?m following you, it makes sense that I can ?heart? your post to reward you for that compassion.
But if you took another step on your path or did some other activity toward growth, and I see in my feed that you did this, how can I show you support in general? How can I give you a virtual ?thumb?s up? to encourage you or a"hug" to show you I care?
Our conversation led me to wonder how people are using the hearts today and what you consider to be the meaning of a heart when you click on it in a chat.
Please share with me what hearts mean to you, how you use them, and any ideas you may have about how we can give everyone a way to encourage each other.
Thanks!
I use it to show support to my friends on here. Also if someone says something I am in agreeance with or find particularly funny, I'll give it a heart. So on and so forth.
I use hearts as often as possible. It is a way to say "Good going" or "I understand" even
"Just glad you are here!"
That last one is important!!! It is hard to be here sometimes!!! Hard to reach out or reach in. Hearts let someone know they are appreciated so DON'T HOLD THEM BACK! WOOT WOOT!!!!
I know it lifts me up when I get them and GIVE THEM!!! I LOVE TO GIVE THEM!!!!
I also think that many people that give hearts are very compassionate people. Sometimes I feel it is better to give than receive.
One day in the depression room very few people were giving hearts. We were playing a game. I asked if we could play another game "The Heart Game." The rule was to just start "Giving Your Heart(s)" - within 5 minutes the entire atmosphere of the room changed!!! It was AMAZING!!! There was SO much compassion and love and people kept saying that it felt like we were all a family.
Try it sometime. Share the love! Share the hearts! Be a giver!
I use the hearts as a positive reinforcement. If a friend, member, guests say something I agree with, I'll heart them. Same goes if they've said something funny, positive, or shared important facts or information to others. I often use the heart to acknowledge someone. So yes the heart for me are used for positive reinforcement
