July 24: New Chat Application - Only on The App & Still Beta
Hello 7 Cups App Users!
This weekend we are going to launch a fancy new feature! But, this feature is still in beta & we need your help to test it. It will be available ONLY on the app! Everyone is welcome to give it a whirl. Here is how it will work!
What will this feature do?
This feature will allow you navigate between varying conversations and chatrooms much faster. It will give you the ability to easily have more than one conversation going at once. (I have tested it, it is very slick).
At the top of the app, you see a bar with up to 5 of your most recent conversations. The conversations will be indicated with your user picture or the chatroom initials. Only 5 will be listed at one time. Once you hit 6, the 6th will drop back to your regular conversation list.
You will be alerted on this top bar when one of your chats has a new message for you to view. Screenshot here!
You will be able to click through to these conversations very easily from this top bar.

How can I turn it on?
In your account settings, you will need to turn this feature on. If you do not turn it on, you will not be able to participate. If you don't like it, you can turn it off at any time.
Should I expect bugs?
Yup, this is brand new!

Great, we'd love for you to tell us what is working & not working, so we can continue to get it right. Please use this form to file bug reports specifically related to this feature. Remember, if you don't love yet, you can turn it off and go right back to the original app!
Thank you everyone who willing to dive in and give this new feature a try! It should greatly enhance the quality of your chat experience, but we need your help in testing it! All are welcome! My only issue is the amount of crashing it does now....when it isn't crashing, it works a lot better though :)

Since the legacy chat is no longer available in settings, I've noticed some more issues with this update.
Mainly, I've noticed that it crashes/doesn't load frequently. I'll be in the middle of a 1-on-1 chat, and the app will freeze up, or crash completely. I also often have to close and re-open the app multiple times to get stuff to load. Loading chats is seeming to be the biggest issue as of right now, but the forums have given me problems as well.
Another thing I've noticed is that while we should be able to navigate easily between 5 chats at once, I can only do this with three chats. I'm using my iPhone 5S (in case that helps any) and with the 4th and 5th chats, you can barely see those circles, and it is hard to click on them. I don't really see the point in having 5 chats being kept in the navigation bar if you can only easily get between 3.
thanks for the feedback. I was aware of the 5-chats problem on iPhones...
will let @ezraBC know about the increased flakiness and we may need to keep the ability to switch back until it is all stable.
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn Just for clarification, the 5 chats bubbles problem is not only on ios, its also on Android
thanks for clarifying. so it's a issue in portrait layout on handheld devices.
i believe @ezraBC is aware of the issue and I will review with him as we work on the chat design.
in the meantime I apologize for any inconvenience.
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn In the beta version of the new version, it was actually fine when the overflow of the bar was not hidden, the 4th and 5th bubble were just floating out of no where, for now I think we can handle it even if its a bit annoying
